i have a roll of thermo-tec header wrap and im going to install it to reduce under hood temps.but it says it will increase horsepower and torque,if it does im sure it will be so slight i wont even feel it,im also worrying about it cracking the primary tubes due to over heating them.has any of you guys used this stuff before? and if so,do you like it? did you notice any performance gains?or any problems due to the install??????

I have header wrap on my exhaust system. It will reduce under hood temperatures and it will keep the heat in the exhaust system to allow better flow, but I'm not sure how much horsepower it will give. If it doesn't, it will be minimal as you suspected, but there is no reason not to. It shouldn't affect installation, just wrap the headers with them, get some wire and secure the wrap around the headers and then install the headers. It can't hurt, right?

it shouldnt hurt anything, but ive heard of headers cracking because the wrap retains too much heat and causes the tubes to crack,i just dont want that to happen,im not really doing this as a performance mod,i just want to drop the under hood temps and keep from burning my damn hands!!! that ish' gets hot boy!!!!

I think that if you rap the primary tubes before the collector, and leave some exposed metal underneath the car you should be safe frome cracking, the heat will have an outlet that way.

yeah horsepower gains will be very minimal, but the trick is worth it

well, i dont use it, but some of my friends does, it did work, but i have a doubt when u pushing ur car hard. i think NA car is ok, wont try it if its a T/C tho..

get St.May Airdancer, its a device to block heat from the hood to the air-intake. the reason to keep the hood lower in temp is to make the air cooler for higher O2 density, thus more power.
