ok newbie to imports and the sport, I picked up a 91 honda accord, and I was mobbin home one night, as soon as I hit 110 (mph) the motor died sputtered something (I thought I blew the motor). After talkin to several people, I was told it is a factory govenor. However none of the shops i talked to can tell me how to bypass it, i have been told that I need to send the computer to jacobs, and they can reprogram it, and I have also been told that a chip will fix it, but these two sources stronlgy disagree, what do you guys think?
btw everything is stock, cept for intrax coilovers, and I have a zex NOS kit awaiting it.
TY!

your ECU does the fuel cutoff. You can have it reprogrammed, and some chips disable it, but not all.

well basically the fuel cutoff is there so you don't kill yourself going post 100 mph, but if you really want to take it off you can try http://www.hondata.com they have so useful info i guess, your car usdm right? i thought only jdm ecu's have cutoffs for speed? did you hit the redline?

no, I did not hit redline, I looked as soon as it happened, It is an automatic(booooo). I realize that I failed to mention that as soon as the speed got down to 105 ish, it fired right back up...thx for the link though..

well if it's not you redline then i don't really know i guess the ecu really is set to cut off your power when you go too fast, never heard of it happening before though and since your car is 91 then it should be OBD1 which doesn't really have that many restrictions, oh well good luck on your quest to drive at extremely illegal speeds!! (by the way you do know that if you get caught going over 100 mph by the cops you can kiss you license good bye. well anything for the thrill i guess)

I wouldn't want to release where this occurs at, however, freeway racing in this area is not uncomon, I was doin 125+(speedo was pegged) in my daytona, when I got TORE up by a 3000vr4. I thought I acidentally shifted into reverse... thats was some time ago though, and I got challenged by some kid with lots of chrome, needless to say, I just couldn't back down, but got roasted when then fuel cut out.
I tell ya I had him dammit....

hey whatever tickles your fancy right? ha ha, i know it's hard to resist going at insane speeds and while personally i don't think a accord is the way to go when you want performance who am i to judge. my friend has accord with a h22a in it and it's pretty quick, so i guess your best bet right now would be to fix the ecu... i think if you contact the guys at hondata about your problem they'll be happy to help you, or you can call up reputable shops like, atomic performance or group a/ skunk2 and ask them for help
Hey Easy, if you want to have REAL fun behind the wheel, why don't you come run with my little Neon sometime :)

There is a guy cruising around the Toronto Area with a H22 in his 4dr accord. He says it's quick but I've never seen it run.

I think that the car being an automatic has a lot to do with it. Autos that are unmodified dont like going really fast. As such you have a speed limiter to prevent the tranny from flying appart.
Their is a guy around here (WSU) with that H22 transplant the accord was an ex-MoSpeed car, its really quick.

why you guys hatin on me so much? i bought the car as a salvage for $500, and it ran, my other car was dying. I am just trying to do what I can with what I got. If I had a chioce on what car to turn into a racer, I certainly wouldn't have bought an 11 year old car...
easy
ps I would love to go run around and show you how slow my pos accord is..

Relax, relax we aren't hating, just playing around a bit. My car is actually older than yours, (89) and I pulled it out of a field where it sat for over a year, leaky sunroof, capped out front end and all.
I drove it home with the steering wheel turned 90degrees just so I could drive straight, as the car had some kind of serious curb damage (requiring replacement of the front crossbeam)
the beauty of buying a POS is when you drive it around a year or two later and comments start flying about how neat it looks, after you put a ton of work in it, and your the one your friends call for help with their cars.

Uhmmmm, yeah sure OK. Speedline is actually pretty damn good their staff knows a shitload more than anyone else in the area (yes more than fastlane)Whenever I fuck up some how they are all over it helping me out. That black integra outfront reps their shop hard at every event legal or illegal. pics of it are in super street.
===>much love to speedline !!!
Fastlane Sucks Donkey Balls!!!
TSR and MPR are other good shops
dont set foot in pro audio in fedral way. They are way too shady, I've heard rumors and stories that stolen shit always materializies in their back rooms.

as a stereo installer, I have seen their level of quality in electrical, ie stereos and alarm installs, and it scares me... Thats all I know about them. the guy in my shop had one of those places do a motor swap for him, well, he got pulled over, they ran all his shit, and the motor was stolen, his missed work for a week cuz he was in jail...
