I have a 2nd Gen Integra with bad seals(poor thing) And im looking to have my engine LS/Vtec. I wanna know the truth on how reliable it really is and does it pass smog? The engine will have B16 pistons, head, intake manifold and im sure there's more. Please let me know if I should do this setup that will probably cost me around $1500

If your just going to slap the head it wont last you that long. I did that to my car and only lasted 900 miles. I have my motor fully built now. 95 GSr head. ITR pistons, rings, bearings, oil line, oil pump, blue print and balance.. Its running sweet. Did I mention I run my co workers 2001 GT stang. 2 out of 3 Races I came on top

...I dont mean to be rude but u spent [/bold]$4000[/bold] on your engine, that's how much my car cost! Hehe, every post u made has also mentioned that u beat a 2001 stang, i guess thats cool but i think everyone knows. So how fast u run mid or low 14s? Also I did mention that im rebuilding my block as well, not just slapping on the head. Please gimme some advise if I should do this?

it would have only cost me $2,200 if I did it right at the first time. Yeah jsut have it built and make sure you put a VTEC oil PUMP and OIL line.. A oil pressure gauge will help. Better do it the first time.

i don't think it's worth it for a ls/vtec not to start flames or anything as this is only my opinion. the ls/vtec concept sounds good on paper but in reality it's not really that reliable, think about it, if this is the way teh motor was intended to be then honda would have made it that way but they didn't so you shouldn't. everyone i know whose done this tells me it doesn't last, it might run good for awhile but in less then a year it'll probably mess up on you, and for 2000 you can get a b16a swap, the whole point on getting ls/vtec (besides the power) is that it would be cheaper then a full vtec conversion

I don't understand the reasoning of taking the 1.8L out of the LS and swapping in a smaller engine. The loss of torque, especially in a heavier car like the Integra would make you pretty darn slow. I've also seen stock LS's beat stock Si's.

se-rage basically when you do a ls/vtec conversion you use a b18b block and a b16a head because the b16a has a higher compression then the b18c

SERag is right putting a b16 on a integ is not worth it.. Darn slow. Look at them SI, there lighter than integs and look they cant ever beat a GSR. Imagine putting the same motor in the ineg, it's havier right? The point of having LSVTEc is to have a low end and high end. LSVTEC will last for a long time if you dont abuse it.
