Salvaged usually means the car has been in a really bad wreak (totalled even) and someone came along and "restored" the car to the best of their ability. More than likely, the frame will be twisted among other things. I don't have any experiance with salvaged cars but I do know that a car is never 100% the same after work like that.

a dalvaged title means the insurance company deemed the car easier to junk than fix. By means of an accident, or some engine problem. Its iffy to get one of these. On one hand you could get a great deal. On the other you could get a junker. If you want it, get it THOROUGHLY inspected by a mechanic.

Classified Ad Terminology

MUST SELL: before it blows up.

RUNS FINE: I was going to say "runs excellent" but I had a last minute attack of conscience.

NEEDS SOME BODY WORK: was side-swiped by a Winnebago.

WELL-MAINTAINED: I changed the oil occasionally.

LOOKS LIKE NEW: just don't try to drive it anywhere.

ALL ORIGINAL: I never had anything fixed, adjusted, or replaced.

LOADED WITH OPTIONS: each one more troublesome than the next.

NEVER SMOKED IN: unfortunately, that's the best thing I can say about it.

PROJECT CAR: doesn't run.

LOTS OF POTENTIAL: doesn't run.

NEEDS MINOR REPAIR: doesn't run.

most insurance companies salvage a car at 70% of blue book value, so on a 91 accord(like I just bought for $600) one hit to a quaterpanel could total the car. I have also seen them totalled because the stereo system was stolen, and was 70% of the cars bluebook stupid huh

i know here in ohio if you buy a car with a salvage title the department of motor vehicles won't let you title it for driving purposes. you can only use it for parts and scrap. don't know how it works elsewhere, but hopefully that might help..

SALVAGED Title means That the car was in a wreck SOOOOOOO bad that the thing should have been junked but was fixed. It could also mean that the Car was stolen, stripped so bad that the insurance decided to junk it, but someone restored it.

My dads a dealer so I know all the shit about it. One crazy story about a Salvage my dad got.

It was a 2000 Expedition. slavage title at the Salvage Auction. The only thing wrong with it was a broken window in the rear. Someone had tried to steal it, but they failed to do anything but break the window. I suppose the Bank that was financing it didnt want to hassle so they sold it as salvage. My dad picked it up for cheap.

REMEMBER! When you buy a salvage title vehicle, get it for a good price, because you are probably gonna be the last owner of the vehicle.

when a car has a salvage title it could mean one of many things, it could have been really messed up in an accident or it could have been stolen, basically salvaged just means the insurance company bought the car and paid the owner, you should get an experience mechanic to go check the car out with you, most of the time they can tell if the transmission, suspension, and engine are running fine, if you stare at the panels you can sometimes tell if the car has been repainted because the color will be a little off, and one last thing don't believe the mileage the odometer reads cause if a car has salvage title the owner can legally have the miles changed to anything they want
