Lastnight i was just minding my own business on my way home from work. I pulled up to a stop light and next to me is a what looks to be a 92' or so year model Ford Escort, i cant believe my eyes, its got underbody lights, wheels, interior lights from the glow from inside and exhuast that sounded like shit. He rolled down his window (mine were already down) and yelled over at me to race him. tired and all i reluctantly agreed. i didnt know if he actually had atleast some balls under his hood (he didnt) so i said ill give you a 2 second lead off. light goes green he guns his engine, i give him his two seconds. Pull up to his rear bumper in first gear doing 35 at 4 grand. pull into 2nd gear pull by him at 55 in 2nd at 4 grand, nail her into 3rd gear zipping past him doing 75 at 5 grand. nail her into 4th and i couldnt see his head lights anymore. i was doing this half asleep too. Pull up to next stop light, and he actually wanted to race again, i just looked at him, and then made my left hand turn and went home. i asked a friend of mine next day what size engine is in his sister's escort, cuz she has a similar year car. He said a whole whopping 92 hp. I luaghed, i shouldn't have even bothered with this dude.

Since you are new, you should post what you drive as well.

According to his profile, it's a "Saturn SC2 95'."

Oh, well that explains why he is making fun of other people for the cars they drive. :woowoo:
So you were doing around 80+ during a stoplight race in a beater SC-2... :hahano:
Dream on.
0-30 mph 2.60 s
0-40 mph 4.40 s
0-50 mph 5.90 s
0-60 mph 8.50 s
0-70 mph 10.90 s
0-80 mph 14.80 s
0-90 mph 18.70 s
0-100 mph 24.10 s
Those are some average 0-X times from a 97 SC-2... Not very mind bending...

isnt this the guy who said he had a 11 second neon and owned a car club in that other thread
ShadyDave

It was his Saturn that ran the 11, IIRC.
And I'm still thinking he means eighth mile...
I think he means 11 sec 0-60.
i was doing this half asleep too.
You're the second stupidest person I've ever heard of.
He said a whole whopping 92 hp. I luaghed, i shouldn't have even bothered with this dude.
You have what, 10 more horses?

Driving half asleep is always great, you could've just hit someone and kept going because you were hardly awake and didn't know anything had happen. I hope you had fun. I also doubt you gained 20 mph before "pulling by him". Well, unless it wasn't a blow out race like you said it was.

Yeah take it slow man. Im 17 and i got a fast car, well techniclly i made it fast. Suped the shit out of a 95' Dodge Neon, and let me tell yah 3 tickets in 4 months really sucks. treat your license like gold. I still race, and im the co-head of a local car club made up of a bunch of us highschoolers and 20 year olds. We try to keep things safe and cool. We dont race like morons, matter a fact if it so much as picks up a 20 mph wind we dont race. Treat it like gold, just take it easy for your first few months. A car that you would be nice for you would be something like a Neon, their cheap, easy to repair, and fuel economic, just dont supe the shit outta it like i did. i made it into a 11.1 second car. Ford Escort isnt a bad choice either, or a Checy Cavalier. Any of the big three's economy cars will fit you just fine.I'd like to see some proof of this 11 second Neon. :squint:
Pics, mod list, dyno sheet, time slips, etc. I'm sure you know the drill.
And in this thread you're laughing at the Escort, but in your previous posts, you say it's good car?

you know, i cant even read that stuff anymore. i hate when ppl talk about how they have :
a) something that would require alot of money and a job good enough to produce the money required
b) some awesome job, title, or position
c) high intelligence or common sense
but they cant master the basics of grammatical proficiency or english composition.
any of you know what im talkin about? its usually the posers first post. they choose some thread with a subject that has no relation with what they want to talk about, so they try to make the story go from one thing, to how they have an r34 gtr or a 9 second street civic.take what wolf posted for example. that whole story was just a bunch of bullshit stuffed into a paragraph to try and relate the fact that some kid is lookin for a first car, to the poser bein in charge of some car club and havin an 11 second neon. im tired of it. woe me. learn how to write a real story.
"it was a dark and stormy night. other than the occasional flashes of lightning, or the roar of the thunderous sky, the night was silent...except from the high decibel roar of my 11.1 second neon."
at least something like that. if i have to read another noob, poser post like the one above again, i think ill slash my wrists with a rusty can top

Someone mentioned that you would have to have this "awesome" job or whatever to build cars like that. Look in any domestic or ricer magazine and you'll find several cars with $50,000 in mods on them. There are several people who make plenty of money to build these. Those of you who are younger don't plan on working for what you make now in ten years right?

Last time i open my mouth again. I guess i'll just keep my stories to myself if no one cares to believe me. I do have a fair amount of money, seeing as im the oldest out of two kids and both my parents are dead. I live w/ my uncle being as he's single. I work for a Auto Body and mechanic in Clawson, Michigan. so i have the money and the job needed to do what i can do on cars. My uncle has been racing for sport since he was 16, hes now 48. If you dont believe what i can do fine, dont believe what my cars can do fine. Ever heard the phrase, anything is possible, you just need the time, money, and knowledge to do it. I'll be going about my business. Dont expect much out of me. Your flaming of me has made you look great in my eyes as well as plenty of the other new guys. I still have plenty to know about racing, and you of all people seeing as you older should be guiding people like me, not tearing them down and making them feel like shit. Thanks bye.

Why don't you post some pics of this badass Saturn? Maybe scan a timeslip, or post up a video? That would go a good ways towards backing your claims.

If you have an Uncle that has been racing for 2/3 of his life why are you on the internet looking for guidance.

i was the one who said that. if i read what you wrote correctly, u made an arrogant statement. if you mean im wrong because the ricer mags have ppl with like 50k in mods done to their cars. thats true, sometimes. have you ever heard of sponsorships? besides, you do win prizemoney or parts if you win a car show or 2. besides, the majority of the ppl ive seen in ricer mags with those cars HAVE a good job, or a job at a car shop, where their work usually gets done. i was talkin about the 16-20 yr old kids who come in here talkin about how they have some 10 second car or some shit, then say they have the money because they're the ceo of microsoft, and they made ceo at 16 b/c they won the nobel prize at 15 for their research on changing a cows flatulence into a usable fuel source. but they spel lik dis. i mean, it just makes sense. if you own a 100k car, u probably have a good job, and a job that makes that kind of money requires a level of intelligence that would entail at least a moderate understanding of grammar and spelling

Well I'm sure if I'm supposed to read that post as you talking shit or not so I guess I'll just let it go. But when I was 17 I did have fast cars because I had been around it most of my life. I had the knowledge. When you have some knowledge, you can build a moderately quick car without spending a fortune. I just see all these websites and someone says they have a certain car and everyone talks shit because they are either nieve or jealous regardless of whether the person is full of shit or not. If I post a picture of 2 Mercedes, a BMW, and 2 old school hot rods in front of a nice gouse, are you going to tell me to paste pennies on them or some shit? I'm 26 by the way.

im not shit talkin. but thats the way it read to me. anyway, moderately quick, and damn fast are 2 different things. besides, how long you been on this board? if not long, you will see what i mean. gettin an already fast car or a v8 powered car and making it moderately quick isnt hard, really. but takin a neon, non-srt4, and makin it run low 11's or whatever is a little harder for me to swallow. but anyway, like i said, you probably havent seen it as much. i own a skyline, and get fucked with ppl that dont know me because they think im lyin, but i dont really mind it, cause alot of ppl lie about stuff like that. anyway, between this board and yahoochat, i bust skyline powers all day long. other ppl bust other guys here as well. alot of ppl in this board between the ages of 20 and under lie about their cars or what not. maybe they think everyone in here has something better and wont accept them. i dont know, but its true
wait wait.. isnt this still the SAME GUY who claimed his dad (i thought he was dead) worked on american cars, and how we should buy american cars?
Yup, in the same post I took the quote from up above.

I've only been on this board for a few months. But I've been on others for a while and a lot of people, with slow LT1 powered 240Z's, know me pretty well so I guess its not much of a problem for me. Wehn people are full of it, they get caught after awhile but I usually try to give them the benefit of the doubt until that time. Just curious, how do you like the Skyline? I came across one out here that I was thinking about getting. I own one now but its only 1/18 scale. :hehe:

i love it. ive owned only american cars, but this was the first domestic that wasnt american. i can say that stock, it was really quick. i mean, i could go about 40 mph and floor it, and when the turbo would spool, the tires would spin..this is on a wet road, but still. no downshifting, no dumping the clutch...a stock car with an auto( till i did the manual swap). i dont have a gtr though. i have a gtst. r32. rwd, 2.0 liter, single turbo, 215hp stock. now its far from stock, but i love it even more. i dont drag race it though. i race on mountain roads. usually not against someone. just by myself. but its great. im keepin it, and when i have a kid, im givin it to him when hes old enough.

You can spin the tires in the rain? No way!
FIRESTARTER
12-02-2003, 08:05 PM
haha..... i didnt say the rain, i said a wet road. doesnt have to be completely saturated. anyway, the point is, it didnt do it once i floored it... it would do it once the turbo spooled. it could do it at about 40mph, with an auto tranny. but keep in mind, im talkin about when it was stock. it aint a gtr. no 280hp here. 215 stock. anyway, it may not be all that impressive to you, but ive seen hondas with that much hp that cant even do a good burnout from a dead stop to get their tires warm for a drag race at the track
