You can't buy it in the US... at least real Absinthe anyways, but if you ever travel or get the chance it's worth a try... Also remember not to drink it straight, you have to sift it through sugar first since it is wormwood oil.

I know for a fact you can have it shipped here, I have a friend who did so. Sadly, I do not know where he got it from ,and I don;t really see him much, so I could not ask him for you. I have tried a few times to order from Spain, but often I recieve an e-mail saying they do not ship to the U.S. I guess the stuff is pretty hit or miss, try to order some, and if it works, let me know how it goes.

Well looking over the site that was posted it says there are some that ship orders world wide no questions asked... I just remember when Absinthe was going for a few hundred dollars a bottle on eBay a few years ago, and pretty much the only way to get ahold of it was to go abroad to sample it... ;)

yea, the good shit is around $65 a bottle from the chech republic. takes about a month to get here but supposedly it's the best you can buy, once i get some $ i'm gonna buy some.

I posted a thread on this a few weeks back when I was entertaining the thought of it. I was going to purchase some of that Deva 70% stuff from spirits corner, but after I saw the delivery time I just said fak it. I did purchase and try that Salvia Divinorum stuff Wolf told me about. Wow. That shit is fucking CRAZY! Never felt an experience like it. I would like to try some of this absinthe tho, too bad the wait is just so long here in the states.

There's a couple threads on absinthe around here- but basically if you're expecting liquid weed + alcohol + shrooms- you'll be greatly dissappointed.

It's definitely a different kinda drunk- but you won't trip like you're on shrooms- you will feel nothing like you are high- but you will be drunk- very drunk- and it'll be a very wonderful drunk- thats very vivid and neat.

for this stuff Salvia Divinorum when it says to have a sitter. it says so you dont drop the pipe or whatevr to start a fire and to help out if things get complicated. what doe this mean when things get compicateed? will you start harming yourself( as in biting yourself and whatnot)? or is it to keep you from walking of cliffs and into things type. aslo could you take it with some one else and have a third as sitter. or wil the other person just distract you?

If its your first time doing it, I woudl advise a sitter. Its very hard to accurately describe what it is like to someone that hasn't tried it. If you get the 10X extract than one big puff on the pipe and u will be done - it will hit within 8 seconds or so. You wont start biting yourself or doing anything crazy its not like that. If you take a normal sized hit than your sense of reality will be totally skewed. By complicated it just means it can be very disorientating and confusing if you arent relaxed when you try it. The sitter is just there so u dont start walking around and bumping into stuff or whatever.

EDIT - anyone happen to know of a joint that can ship absinthe over here with only like a weeks wait for something? 2 to 3 months is a little long for my liking...

sorry to revive a dead thead, but I've had some of this stuff and I'd like to comment

it tastes very interesting, doesn't taste like any other alchohol on the planet. It definitely has a "woody" flavor though. the buzz you get is very pure and you are very unlikely to get a hangover from it, but it has no trippy or psychadelic effects, sorry.

Was it home brewed or not? Real absinthe is very psychodelic... not psychodelic in the sense you will see satan mowing your lawn, but like shady said where it's very vivid.

It's just that it hits you all at once. I remember taking the hit, and thinking "nothing's happening", then there's about 5 minutes that I can't remember, then everything was like in a cartoon. If you try to walk, you fall over, etc.

The type of Absinthe which was created 100+ years ago was alot more potent than the stuff you can buy today. Old Absinthe contained alot more wormwood oil than the stuff does now; and since wormwood oil (more importantly Thujone) is a psychoactive, Absinthe was known to produce hallucinations. This was more evident in chronic Absinthe use, as opposed to occasional users.

The most popular "visualization" was the green fairy, which was popular in France.

The only semi-faithful Absinthes available on the market are La Fee and Hills (somewhat), but it is still nowhere near the potency of the Absinthe of 100-150 years ago.

Absinthe now will still give you a vivid and lively experience, but I doubt anyone here will be consuming the volume that many of the periods writers / artists did to experience the hallucinations due to the Thujone build ups.

I just *have* to make a comment on this old thread since last night was my first time doing it. Also, I'm *still* feeling a little of it.

To explain, I was going to a friend's party and had him pick me up 6 shmirnoff ices. When I get htere I down 1 and all the people (mostly mid 20's; air force enlisted party) were talking about "try the green drink." Most of these guys are heavy drinkers and were saying that 2 shots would make you good for the night.

So I go into the room and see a green bottle that says "Abstinthe" on it and immediatly thought of this thread. Everyone surrounds me and says it's funny to watch people try it since it's potent. So I decided to down it and...

It goes down easier than beer. The liquorice taste is great and it's *easily* the best tasting alcohol that is over 100 proof. I take a shot and say I love the stuff. The guy who bought the bottle says if I want another then go for it. Another one goes down and I'm just standing there thinking "this doesn't even taste like it should be a shot."

They tell me to take a rest before going for number 3. I get up and fill another cup of water then when I pick up the third shot everything just starts getting wavy. I think to myself "this might not be a hot idea."

Bam. 3 down. I should stop and explain that I have a bit of a tolerance for a guy of my size (175 lbs) I'm no european but it usually takes me about 6 shots of straight vodka to get a decent buzz and a total of 11 or 12 to get me into that drunk mode where you can still remember.

Now things really get going and everything starts spinning faster, then Faster, then FASTER, THEN....nothing. Everything just stops and it goes into a quiet mode. I pour myself a 4th shot and all the guys look at me like I'm insane. Due to the fact that the bottle decievingly says 150 proof (trust me; it hits strong) one more can't be that bad. So I down that and walk over to a couch to sit down. What happens next is just crazy.

Have you ever been dehydrated? Imagine the lightheadedness you get when it happens and that's the only way I can describe it. It's like everything has no weight and your head just bobs around. I don't know how drunk is too all of you but usually to me I feel a lot heavier and sluggish. But this kind of drunk is more like the feeling of being drunk but retaining your motor skills. You just don't care to use them.

My reccomendation: If you do it then take 2 shots to keep it clean. Anything more and you're probably going to feel a little dizzy in the morning like I do. No hallucinations but I did a few long and weird interesting conversation with myself. That's when you know it's cool buzz: when you start learning shit from your inner voice or something. :hs: And do not let the proof fuck with you; I've had a 181 and even that didn't get me knocked out until I got around the 5th shot.
