So heres the deal. Ive got a 90 integra which I just sold here, due to the death of a close friend who was killed (also in an integra).

I am also buying my friends b16 1990 integra, and Im wondering about legalization process..
To pass smog, the motor needs work; however i plan to use it as a track only car (autocross, etc). Another problem is that he moved to arizona last year and had the car registered there, and they dont match vins on the door with engine vins. CA DOES, and Im wondering if i'm going to be able to get the car registered or not without swapping out the motor..

Again, its for a track, and wont see street use. Help appriciated, i dont really come here that often so email would be nice:) thanks..

If it is only for track buy a trailer and haul it. If you register it you will have to pay taxes.

Having just done a 4x4 this way, I will say registering it as a non-op is quite cheap. But, when I get it put together, I will have to pay full boat. Which is the same fees as if I went in and paid to have it an operating vehicle to begin with I believe. But, DMV is their own kingdom and I don't have the secret handshake....
