Alright I found a 95 DSM, however it was really dirty. So I was going to have a comperssion test on it and see if the engine was in good shape. I am I am doing this because they mechanics at the dealership(Mitsubishi) said it needed a new headgasket and a map sensor, as well as a Radio(Aftermarket one before preivous owner removed it I guess) so Thats why I want to get a comperssion test because it sounds like it was abused but im not sure. Now I can't remeber what the comperssion should be on it. I am thinking around 115-130psi/cyl. am I right? if you DSM guys could get back to be I would appericate it

First gen's in excelent shape should be around 164, 2nd gens should be around 170-180, don't worry too much about how high the reading is, it's more important for them to be equal

my comp is 150, 150, 150, 139 to give you an example, yet i still run 13's with intake and exhaust...go figure

Yea alot of dsm guys have around 150-160 for first gen, and around 170-178 for 2nd gen. Make sure they test is done when the engine is at operating temp for best results. Im running 180, 170, 175, 185. That decent for having 9:1 pistons and a thick copper headgasket. the 15 psi difference is kind of annoying to me but its not even close to being a 10% difference. So if it is running at the numbers you guessed I would stay away, even if they are even thats pretty low... If you do get it, dont let them use a stock head gasket, there are better ones out there loike cometic gaskets or hks, or even a multi layered metal one. Now your biggest concern should be crankwalk. Yes CW is way overdone by most people, its really not as big a deal as some people say it is. But it is still a concern and it does happen. If you do get serious about buying it, have the dealer look over the crank and make sure it still well in spec, otherwise id leave it. Good luck!

Thats one I was going to look at was CW. I know how the 2nd gens are. When I first looked at the car it was in the back(Not running b/c of the Headgasket) and was really really dirty, the front OZ rims when black with brake dust and the back where really dirty two. and the interior the floor had crap all over it(Just napkins and fast food drink cups) so that is way I am going to have a Comp test done. Also they said it needed a new MAP sensor. I though the DSM's(4G63's) had just a regular ECU? is that true?

If it had OZ rims, are you sure it isn't a non-turbo GS OZ Rally model? Those were the only eclipses that came with OZ rims. The MAP sensor they're talking about is the MAF right before the air filter. I'd skip on this one. Once they CW they always seem to do it again, unless you're gonna swap a 6 bolt in there.

Well Im not sure which one it is(all badging is shaved off). It had leather, and was loaded(but I guess the GS came that way too) but the right side inner fender was vented(Intercooler). So thats way I though it may be a GS-t(X)(the salesman couldn't open teh hood becasue it was in teh serivce area. I could only look at teh outside. But I will find out more on Monday

If that thing crankwalked you will need much more than a little headgasket to fix her up... Sounds iffy.

It sounds to me like a GS OZ Rally edition. Look inside of that bumper for the intercooler. It's very easy to spot. Also, if the exhaust is stock then a turbo model will have dual tips on the muffler. Look underneath the car for a rear differential to see if its AWD. And check for a boost gauge in the gauge cluster!!
edit: just saw it was a 95.. all the turbo models had silver ground effects.

For some reason I thought only the non-turbos used a MAP sensor...:uhhh:

yup it has silver ground effects. and dual tips. That way I though it was the turbo model. so I will check it out tommorrow and get it all check out. I didn't get a change to look under neath. Just though it was the turbo because of the dual tips and leather Int.
