this is the second time now... i have NO idea what's going on. what happens is my head unit stops functioning, COMPLETELY. it always occurs due to my passenger touching the receiver, and i have no idea what they did to it, because this is the second time this happened to my head unit, and the person's who messed them up were two different people... now, i was wondering if anyone else had this same problem, or does anyone know what's going on? circuit city installed my head unit and shoved my stock head unit behind this aftermarket one and i need feedback. sorry if this post is hard to understand, i can't find the right words for what i'm trying to say, i'm hella tired right now..

Did u have your heater on at the time or been driving for a while. I have an alpine cda7864 and when it overheats it shuts itself off or says error on the screen. circuit city put the stock radio in back of the new one because you probably have a 96-98 civc. In those civics the brain for the keyless entry is inside the radio so if you remove the radio you no longer have keyless entry.

i went to circuit city today and what they told me was that the keyless entry system on my civic is burning out my receiver, that's the reason why, and what they need to do is have me send my alpine receiver to the factory to get it repaired and then they need to eliminate the keyless entry system then re-install the alpine receiver...

I am a MECP first class rated installer, and I find it higly unlikely that your keyless entry has ANYTHING to do with your alpine. Do the lights and everything turn off, or just the sound? if its just the sound, they hooked up your radio wrong.. please post more, I would love to know if they actually fix the problem, I would suggest having another shop look at it...

both units just completely turned off and didn't function at all (no sound, no lcd display, nothing), the circuit city installation crew couldn't even get the cd's out of both units that i was listening to. a guy checked the fuses and everything and said a fuse blew out. yesterday i just traded my alpine receiver for kenwood's kdc-mp8017 and so far it has had no problems. circuit city also took out my stock receiver so no more worries of my keyless entry system blowing out my reciever.
