sorry if this is repetitive as i have posted the info in the replies or two other posts already, but i felt i needed to start my own thread. I got a friggin ticket for speeding and my exhaust the other day. The cop said i was going 51 in a 35 zone. I was positive that i wasn't going that fast. I asked if he had a radar gun and he said no i asked how does he know how fast i was goin and he said he was pacing me. The distance in which he followed me was less then half a mile and i saw him behind me about a quarter mile distance so i made sure to drive slow. Is there a minimum about of distance the cop has to follow you before then can lawfully determine the speed you were going? also he gave me a exhaust ticket cause he said it was modified. No shit it's modified i told him it meets emissiona and is less then 95 db and even asked him if he wanted me to turn on the engine so he can hear it. He said it doesn't matter if it is loud or if it meets emissions! so what the hell does matter!?! he said as long as it is modified it is illegal, any help from anyone on whether i can fight this would be great help thanks

With no gun its your word against his, I think you might even be able to get off without him being able to show a gun, cause he hs no proof and for all you know he could have been lying and used that as an excuse to bust you. Also along as you have proof the exhaust is legal, then it should be all good, just bring it to court. If you think he is trying to dick with you, you can request another officer and they HAVE to call in another one.

I think that you caught the cop off guard, knowing all the laws and shit. The cop freaked out and was all thinking "damn this guy knows all this shit, but i cant look stupid so i am going to give him a fucked up ticket" That is what i think happened, just fight it, and make the cop look stupid. but then again it is only a 10 dollar fix it ticket. plus the state referree charge and stuff. So i dont know it will cost about all together i think like 50 bucks.

thanks for the support guys, i've decided to fight the ticket after i pull a extension so it'll be like 2-3 months before i have to go to court. As for the exhaust ticket i think it's like a 70 dollar fine now in so cal. so screw that i'm going to fight that too. I have this whole arguement written out already it's not that strong cause i can't really think of a solid arguement against the speeding part so if anyone could think of one please post it thanks
