99 ex short shifter problem

my friend has a 99 ex 4-door and he put a short shifter, but that thing bangs on the heat sheild. he has trouble putting it into reverse. anybody out there have the same problem? if so, what kind of shifter you have? my friend has a obx shifter, but hes bout to get a skunk2 one. any feedback would be helpful.

well,i always thought that OBX was a shitty company,but i LOVED the OBX short shifter i dropped in my Civic.I know about 6 people with it,all civics,and none of them have this problem.I had aftermarket exhaust,and i removed the heat sheild,so maybe that was why...try that.

i have a '97 EX 4-door and i'm using the DC Sports short shifter. cost me $100 but i've never had any problems, no problem going into reverse, no banging against the heatshield, etc. if your friend needs another short shifter, tell him to buy the DC Sports one.
