Why thank you. I can't take credit, someone at VCA snapped this lovely photo...

What a sight to see, walking out of the store...

LoL. RX-8, handling?

It's decent, for a family car...as long as you don't count a few German family cars. ;)

But it's nothing special...

from the skid pad readings it does well

Car&Driver says the RX8 pulls more G's than an M3.
That's not bad for a 4-door that costs $27k.

you can't beat it's weight to power ratio.. i'd kill to drop couple hundred pounds off my car.. and still have nice interior..

Can't beat the engine problems they're having right out of the factory, too. Same problem that SCC had with their pre-production car that Mazda jacked from them before they could even try to investigate the problem. Thanks, but I'll still take a 350Z over it.

Heres the latest and greatest.

1. Mazda is revising the power output downwards. The 6spd is now 238hp and the auto 197. NOw, there are within 5% error factor. So they can get away with it.

2. Mazda will buy your car back if you want.

3. If not, then Mazda gives you $500, and free maintenance.

From what I hear, the same shit happened with the Miata.

This car has had it.

If you're not a member, you'd have to register, so I'll paraphrase.

Mazda has decided that yes, they did fuck up the power level figures, again. After dropping the ball nicely with the 2001 Miata, they managed to keep up the good work with the new RX-8.

Average rwhp on these things tends to be between 170 and 180, after being fully broken in. They were rated at 247 bhp, which, obviously, they're no where near.

Now, Mazda has a policy based around a 5% margin of error in their power figures. So, what they did with the RX-8 is "revised" the power figures to 238 bhp on the manual version and 194 on the auto...which is within the 5% they consider acceptable...however, a 238 bhp rating would still mean you're losing 25% to the drivetrain. That's pretty damn unacceptable in a RWD, manual car. A 240 bhp car should be putting out roughly 200 at the wheels.

What Mazda is doing for any RX-8 owners is offering to either buy their car back, or provide free service and $500...owner's choice.

Yay Mazda...way not to learn from your mistakes.

Oh well, I hated the RX-8 anyway. :)

Damn, that's terrible. I would certainly give them the car back and take my damn money elsewhere. 170rwhp = :hammer:

But hey, at least all the ricers can say, "Damn, I beat a 247hp RX-8 yo!"

Well considering it's puttin' down a saddening 170-180 to the wheels, it better weigh 2000 lbs!

I thought RX-8 pre-production was just having issues w/ the Secondary intake valves opening at the higher RPM... causing the power to lack at the top... ???

This car sucks balls, its slow, hard to find parts, and not very appealing to the eye. For 27 grand go buy a corvette or a used z28 camero, hell go buy a 3000gt

89 N/A supras = what high 16? second cars.

The guy in the rx8 must fucking suck at driving if he lost to a car thats like 2 full seconds slower than his should be, I dont think the problems with the rx8 motors are THAT bad.

blah, the only good thing about the rx8 is the handling, and i guess the backseat, but i love my 350z better ...... a lot better, rwhp matches up with the drive train loss, great looking, and the handling is sharp
