Alright on my 1988 Corolla Coupe, I have had troubles finding a automatic transmission rad. But my buddy gave me his pretty much brand new Camry rad (M/T), so instead I picked up a rather large automatic transmission cooler (Came from a Chev 350 truck). Will I notice any difference in operation in my tranny with the different cooler?
Well, it will either last a lot longer, or blow up immediately.
Cooler always = better for automatics, as long as it gets hot enough (170 degrees in the pan, or thereabouts) to boil off any water that condenses. If all is well, having a giant cooler really has no downside, other than added weight.
On the other hand, if you install it in such a way that it restricts fluid flow, or springs a big leak, then your tranny will overheat and cook itself. Also, I don't like used coolers on general principles - you have no idea what's in there, and there's really no way to thoroughly clean one before using it.

Recomendation?
Get a new cooler, the biggest you can find. Try places that sell towing accessories. You'll spend less than $100, and that's a small price to pay for peace of mind, IMHO.
