This morning I left a little early because the weather was freakin perfect for a top-down cruise. 75 degrees and clear skies...
I took a couple of backroads in to extend my fun and ended up on a 2-lane road with a 97-99 C5 behind me. The road opened up to 2 lanes in each direction and the C5 pulled along side me. We are both doing about 40 - 45. The only other car I could see on the road was a Ford Exploder behind us both.
I waved, like I always do and the kid (he looked 12 but was probably 18 or 19) scowled at me... ??? Hmmm..
He jumps on the gas and gets 2 or 3 lengths ahead of me but when he sees that I didn't take the bait, he hits the brakes and comes along side of me. He looks over and points at my car, gives me a thumbs down. WTF is up with this kid?
No worries. I nodded to him, pointed down the road and did a 3-count. I downshifted to second and stomped it. My 4.11's did me proud and I pulled at least a length on him from the start. Shifted clean to 3rd and had to let off at 80.
We had MAYBE an 1/8th of a mile before a stoplight so it never got out of hand. He would have handed me my butt if we had gotten into the high speeds.
At the light, he refused to look at me and hung back when it turned green. I was sure he was going to try again but no luck.
Is canibalism wrong? :fawk:
