I personally think slicks are cheating :). I guess i'm too much of a street racer because what I learn at the track I want to use on the streets. If some dude wants to run through the hills i'm not gonna be like hey let me change to my slicks. Just my opinion. In my state of mind, i've been doing a lot of crazy things lately....

Also, is there a reason for the tape/covers over the headlights? some sort of friction reduction or something?

They arent slicks. They are BFG Comp T/A R1s that have been "Broken in"

I learned to race on street tires, and now i want that extra few seconds. how can you progress as a driver when your tires can to longer hold up to the loads you throw at them? Oh and i drove the 200 miles home, and then kept them on for 2 days after. Who says they aren't street tires?

The tape on the headlights is to prevent knicks and scratches, and in a worst case scenario (they get shattered) it keeps the glass from falling all over the track. You will usually see blue tape because thats the color 3M decided to make their low-tack painters tape. When peeled off it leaves no residue, and doesn't harm paint.

Most people think that they are at the limits of their tires. Have an experienced racer hop in your car and see what type of times they can pull. You might be surpised.

Well, when an experianced racer tells you "you car is dialed in Greg. Now you just need some R compounds and you'll be good to go" you tend to listen ;)
