View Full Version : Suzuki Bandit 1200 vs 94 Stang

Sitting at a light on an undisclosed expressway, i saw this bike behind me. I really noticed it cuase he had a cool ass helmet with a skull design on it. Anyway leave the light and get to the next one and I ended up one lane over from said bike. There was a minivan about half a car length away the limit line, so I rolled up and sure enough so did the bike. I was checkin out his helmet, and his bike, and he saw and have me a head nod. The bike said Suzuki Bandit 1200 on the side of it, so I figured it could get interesting. The light changed, and I rolled out a little more throttle then leaving a light normally and he did tuck and roll on. Immediatly I floored it, slammed 2nd, and then third and traction finally kicked in. I was close to the end of third when I glanced at the bike, FOUR LENGTHS BACK, still full tuck, elbow rolled down to his knee, so he was fully on the throttle. I backed out at about 110mph, and slowed to stop at a red twoo intersection up. Traffic had amassed at the light so I just kept it normal driving from there. I had to turn right to get to my destination, and again he followed, and i pulled into the left turn lane to go get coffee, and he threw a rev and a wave, then continued on his way. So after having a shitty morning, there nothing like a nice stoplight standoff to brighten ones day.

you ran thru two gears, banged it into third and traction kicked in? this is how you pulled 4 car lengths on 1200 bandit? somethings wrong, don't know what but that doesn't seem right. yes a bandit is slow for a bike, but four car lengths?
Mikey

So you want the technical second by second play by play.
Spun thru 4500-5000 in first got a little traction, slammed second at about 5800-6000, spun thru 4000 ( modulating throttle between 3/4 and full) in second and got traction, and modulated the throttle again in third got traction around 3500-3800 and florred it. by the end of third i got a chance to glance at the Bandit about 4 car lengths or so.
What do you drive, and what makes you an expert on a stoplight stand off you were around for?

This car gives me a little to worry about and i can ride unlike alot of people so don'y start with that shit. Grant it he may not be as fast but i am also on a moderatley modded 600. so blah blah deal with the fact that your riced out honda can't hang with this "STOCK" mustang.
BLAH BLA
05-28-2003, 08:26 PM
are you calling me out? i think you may be confused on some things. first off i do not drive a riced out honda. i have an f-150 and and an lx coupe, the only things i have that could even be considered rice have two wheels and run 9 second quarter miles. now either the recount of the race is a little off, or someone is just fabricating. you said that you never got any real traction but yet you pulled four cars on an 11 second(stock) bike. i know all the car guys love to make names for themselves by collecting on a bike here or there, but really. if you would have had traction then maybe by his own account he was spinning thru third gear.
you say you can ride what are your 60 foot times on that modded 600?

Believe what you want, I have no reason to fabricate shit. If your so worried about it, bring your LX up here and we'll do something. No one called you out, but now that you brought it up I am. I was stoked about it when it happened, but you reminded me why no one can post anything on this shit hole board - everyone throws their negative $.02 in and really waters down the decent stuff that has been few and far between as of late. You think its fabbed, then close the fuckin window and dont read anymore.

i seem to have upset Mikey and his significant other Mike777. are you the same guy or just special friends, oh for shame. what was i thinking? you wrote and put it out here, not me. i am just stating my opinion, but it is based on your recount of the race. you said yourself that you never any got good traction.now i know that you have one those 9 second doorslammers that doesn't need traction(hahah). that you dominate all over spinning your tires thru 3 gears. unlike most of these guys in here i have driven/raced "fast" cars. i am not so hungry to read about a car dominating a bike that i will ignore statements that seem far fetched.
i do not have dilussions my mustang is a nice street car. i do my racing on two wheels, actually half the time it is only on one. i don't race cars, its pointless. i never had a problem with you, but your little friend on the 600, the one trying to stick up for. the one that thinks i drive a riced out civic. he can come down here anytime.i'm in so-cal, why would i want to drive up north? lastly to all of your little friends, stop jockin'. the story as it was written is bogus.

I know Mike personaly, I for one believe him. I have seen the car go, and it goes pretty damn good. Good enough to beat an 12 second bike on the street. And it isnt stock.
You should just post your dyno sheet mike

Good call matt.. Maybe Ill get around to scanning it this weekend... Maybe Longroof can jump in here and give details on the Belair from last week at the Happy Dayz meet.. The 700hp one, and me staying next to him. But maybe his clutch was slipping too, oh wait its prolly an auto. Either, who really gives a shit what some dude, whose name implies that he is full of shit, in So-Cal thinks anyway. Maybe if I go down south with some of the guys from work to race, I'll have this guy meet us at the track... oh yeah I almost forgot, at work, racing refers to motorcycles on roadcourses, cuase cars are just the playtoys.

P.S. Use your brain dude... If I was gonna fab. wouldn't I pick a much cooler bike then a fuckin street cruiser built for midlife crisis releif? I can think of many bikes that I would rather have gone up against, win or lose. I take the opportunities when they arise. Who gives a fuck wether or not you think its bullshit. I don't, and the guys who have seen my car, and helped me on it ( i.e. Longroof & Import hater ) know it moves like it should.

i just read what you wrote, and by your account it seemed a little odd. you and your boy seem to get all worked up like a little girl. cars don't acelerate very fast w/o traction. like it or not that is a fact. now maybe you embellished the facts a little, or maybe you got so worked up that your memory is a little hazey. maybe you got traction alot sooner than you stated. on the other hand maybe its just a total fabrication in your mind, and the guy on the bike was not racing you at all. whatever it is does not matter, the funny thing is how upet you got over a simple question. one of your boys accuses me of being a ricer upset at mustangs. your other protector accuses me of single handedly destroying the internet......and you act as if you know me, like you are so special, like no body but you has raced a road course......know of whom you are dealing with, and just to beat you to the punch, we can go to the motocross track also.........i am blah bla, the all around racer. stop acting like you know me

Perhaps you should follow your own advice there Blah bla and stop acting like you know Mike. The traction issues Mike is referring to aren't the typical "I'm a Corral member Mustang owner" problems where they stomp on the gas and spin the tires into a haze of smoke, shift, and continue until they grab traction somwehere around the top of fifth gear, where the engine bogs as soon ass the tires grab. Mike knows his car well enough that when he feels the tires slip, he gently modulates the throttle and regains traction. When he says "traction finally kicked in", I understand that as the tires hooking hard instead of hazing and he was able to go wide open through out the gear. Is that so difficult for your tiny pee brain to comprehend? Also, you make it sound as though the guy on the bike Was the best drag racer in the world on 2 wheels. I think Rob covered this one quite well in his post, but in case you missed it, not everyone can pull the times posted in the magazine with their bikes. Clearly the guy on the Bandit was one of these folks.
Besides, if he was going to fabricate the story, why wouldn't he make the bike a Turboed Hayabusa and talk about how he gave the guy a 10 car length start before he launched his 1500rwhp Street legal doorslammer, pulling the front wheels off the ground, and sailing past the guy with the front end still in the air while hanging out the sun roof with his middle finger in the air yelling "Bite me you sperm burping rump ranger!"? After all, if you are going to make up a story, at least make it worthwhile and entertaining right? Besides, what does it matter to you anyway? His blown Mustang beat a slow motorcycle. Dear god, not that! It happened, get over it.
I have no doubt you have skill on a bike and that you run 9's with one wheel in the air. Hooray for you. In the future though, if you don't believe a story, try asking the poster of the story nicely instead of having a temper tantrum like a scolded third grader who refuses to believe the truth.

Alot of people on this board know Mikey, no one is on his "****" and the bitches he does have tend to me more of a female following. Blah Bla this did get blown out of proportion, but you didnt help the matter one bit with your original post. Ya one person came in and talked shit after the fact, oh well, get over it, life goes on. One person laughed a Byrons post, it was funny, whether it was directed at you or not, And MR RC51 actually gave you some support. Since you said "shutting up now!" not one of the original posters came back in a said shit, but you feel the need to drag them back into it for some reason. It looks to me like you were trying to call out a fake story and got pissed cause you realized it was'nt. Consider this a warning. If you feel the need to talk about it, PM me.
