Okay okay, I beat him so bad he swerved at me at the next light when we stopped and gave me the birdie. I caught him again and passed him doing 140 down Monterey. Old man was pissed at his machine. Sorry for not elaborating. Peace.

I know they are weak and it amazes me that Porsche sells something so weak for so much money.

Definately a weak car....I think those boxters are for fogies that want a porsche as a status symbol to say "Hey look at the money I have" while the real performance enthusiasts are laughing and itching to line up against it in their beater cars.
Aren't they the cheap porsche that was made basically to get some of that miata and z3 roadster money? I'm not saying this because I'm partial to miatas, its just how it looks to me.

Porsche Boxster
-201HP
-0 to 60mph in 6 second
-14.6 sec in 1/4 mile
Porsche Boxster S
-250HP
-0 to 60mph in 5.5 second
-14.0 sec in 1/4 time
RUF Boxster 3400S
-310HP
-0 to 60 in less than 4.8 second
-??? 1/4 in 1/4 time (should 13sec or less)
If you ask me, its not that bad

They really have that much HP, I didnt know it was that much. Hmmm, shouldnt they be running better 1/4 mile times than that. But they are top speed cars and not drag right. Oh well.

My guess would be you raced a 1997 model boxster. Its tuning is not as good. And 0.60 for them is only around 6.5sec.
Also, if Porsche tune their boxsters too well, they would be killing their 911 Carrera market. I think Porsche already do not like the fact that RUF came out with the 3400S
I raced a Boxster once, but I won only b/c he wouldn't want to go over 100.
And props to you for ur great kill

Yes, this is extremely true. Carrera drivers are already peeved that a Boxter looks too similar. All in all, the Boxter is the "poor man's" Porsche (if such a thing exists) and was desiged for the sole purpose of selling in the roadster market (they have a SUV coming out to sell in the SUV market - it's really ugly IMO).

umm, have any of you tried to keep up with a Boxster blasting through farm roads and forest trails... especailly one with a good driver behind the wheel. i've written several stories on here, and i have pictures.
those who underestimate the handling of the boxster are condemned to sound (and look) like dumbasses.
there isn't a car made my Honda that is cheaper than the Boxster and can handle better. no, not even the S2000. a good friend of ours has a Boxster S and he relaxes on the same damn roads that put me on the edge of the capability of my cars.

I was not refering to the handling capabilities of a Boxster. At the time of our race, there were no turns or twists but only a long straight road, perfect for dragging. I agree with the fact that a Honda PROBABLY could not keep up with a Porsche on a country farm backroad but my honda sure as hell kept us with it on a straight one. In no way did I underestimate the HANDLING of a Boxster. Handling wasnt even part of my discussion. I simply said that the Boxster costs way too much money for how fast it doesnt go.
i be spankin those boxter s's if they only run 14.0
thats weak yo

You know I've thought of buying a Boxster and then modifing it. Slap on a Supercharger kit, get the exhaust system from the RUF 3400S, GT2 brake rotors, racing flywheels, driveshaft and bolt ons.... try to push it to 400HP. But running a 2-3 Bar Boxster would only be a dream because the parts are so expansive. Also, since there is no hood to access to the engine, it mean you would have to Jack the car up for all service work.
For that price I can just get about anything, but then again, a 400HP drag boxster (that can still corner) is NOT just anything.

A friends old roommate stopped by once in a friends boxter, he is a big vegas guy that will leave town with 5k and come back with nothing and then go at it again next weekend.
My friends house is known for having a couple of mildly fast cars in front of it at all times, so he came rolling up asking us for a thousand dollar run before he even stepped out of the car.
All the kids stayed inside and talked about how cool the Boxter was, while I stewed outside wishing my eagle ran so I could get an easy grand out of the guy

are very well built cars that handle like they are on rails. they aren't for the Porsche enthusiast that wanted a dragster... they are for the people that wanted a FUN, well built car. the car was not designed to "compete" with any BMW product. the design for the Boxster started a decade ago and they were not released until the 928 and 968 model line were discontinued. the Boxster merely fills a gap that the 968 left open.
so what it can't accelerate fast from off idle in a striaght line. none of the Boxster owners i know care about that anyways... they're too busy eating up the cones, or blasting through the chicanes. how many of you have cars that feel rock solid stable cruising down the autobahn at 140MPh? Boxsters were designed to be fun, reliable, and they share a lot of parts with the 996 (actaully, it's the other way around). we have friends with supercahrged Boxsters that can haul ass like it's no tomorrow. there are people that have turbocharged the Boxster engine, and there's more tuning in the works.
as for "old fogies"... one of the guys that we know that has a Boxster used to have a Nissan 300ZX twin turbo with a hell of a lot of horsepower. why did he step "down" (as some people would think) to a Boxster? because Nissans are slapped together with cost effectiveness as the prime motivator. he said that though the 300ZX was fast... it had no class. when you shut the doors on a Nissan, the whole car "twangs" and you feel as if you slam the door, it may fall off next time. the fit and finish are poor, and there's the dreaded nissan "front end" that i can attest for is a mark of poor engineering through and through the entire model range.
before you criticize a boxster, try driving one. open it up. the car doesn't really come alive until you rev it high, and when it revs high, you feel like you're in a rocket. the feeling of solidity is incredible, and the car hugs corners like it is on rails. there is no feel of body roll, and the brakes are incredible. porsche is runoured to be pumping up the horsepower to near-carrera levels. if they don't.. then the aftermarket will.
when that happens, the Boxsters will be unstoppable.
