i'm from new york and was driving in danbury returning home on 84 when i see this accord in front of me with european tail lights i haven't seen yet. i decided to come in for a closer look, but the guy was gaining, so i followed him as he sped up. We were doing around 100mph when i saw flashing lights in my rear view. ihad the music blasting, so i didn't notice the cop until he was right behind me, therefore i couldn't hear his sirens.
All of us were in the left lane until i saw the cop. Then i moved over to the middle lane, which was empty (it was about 12 am or so). The cop passed me and pulled up behind the accord, but stuck his hand out the window and motioned me to pull over too. So the cop pulled both of us over.
The cop came to my car and asked if i knew how fast i was going. i said no (it was the first time i was pulled over for anything, and i've been driving for over a year). He took my keys and placed them on the top of my car, then took my license and registration over to the cop car.
He came back like 15 minutes later (after dealing with the accord too) and gave me all my stuff back along with a $300 speeding ticket saying that i was doing 98+mph. He said he was doing me a favor because he said he could have arrested me just for doing over 30mph over the speed limit (which is 55mph). Then let me go on my way.
Weird thing is that he must have seen but didn't give me a ticket for my 20% tints, blue headlights and blinkers, colored tint strip, subs in the back, and driving after 9 (i'm 17 and not allowed to drive after 9, but do anyways).
My question is: since he was a CT cop and pulled me over in CT, what will this mean for me since i have a NY lisence? Is there a chance the court will take my lisence or arrest me? And if they don't, will this show up on my insurance? My father told me to plead not guilty to this, even though i wanted to plead guilty. Who's right and wants going to happen to me?
