i'm thinking this might be my next little upgrade...it's only 54 bucks so why not right?.....in the write up about them they don't give any kind of hint at how much power can be freed up....even their posts on the mailing list only state things like 'it could be substantial' down to 'a couple of hp'.........so does anyone have a clue as to what i should expect from these?.....thanks....

Id think about 1-4 hp if your lucky but It should be a bit more responsive ie: quicker to get to the redline. Less rotational mass. Oh well gives you an excuss to take apart the bottom end of the your motor. :D

you don't have to take it apart...just drop the pan and bolt it in where the gasket goes.......so this is similar to a lightened flywheel then?....

It has to be VERY close to the crank. It strips the oil off that tends to "rope" itself around the crank.

no, a lightend flywheel has much less rotating mass then a crank with a little oil missing from its surface, we're talking less then an ounce, not pounds.

all it realy does is 'scrape' the oil from the air inside the crank case.

it helps the crank rotate through clean air, instead of having to push through oil misted air. it also helps to stop the oil from splashing up onto the crank and rods, which, if it happens, there is a chance your crank will break(a slim chance). imagine you, hitting a pool of oil and the same surface/feet per minute speed that a crank is rotating at, kinda hurts don't it?

they really only work at about 6000+ rpm to really be effective. they are somewhat common in rally racing.

Slim chance? How about no chance?

i was just saying 'similar to' in the way that it frees hp rather that actually create hp.......

new info: a ChryCo engineer has told us that there is as much as 2-2.5qrt of oil getting stuck to the crank...'similar to' a taffy machine......so anyway, for 60 bucks, this is going in the new engine......
