im going to in the near future, do full exhaust, equal length long tube headers, to either a free flowing cat or an o/r x pipe, then to mufflers and out the back. mufflers im gonna run flows or another muffler that flows well. my questions are about the cats and headers. am i better off with the free flow cats, or just running a x-pipe with no cats, will i see a hp differnce, if so a big one or small. and for the headers, i want equal length long tube headers. im debating about installing them, or having someone install them. i;ve looked at a few companies, BBK, Headman, Hooker and some others, im wondering what other people have had with these companies, like good experiances bad, which ones flow better than others? any help wold be appreciated.

I think he said he had a 94GT in another thread. Unless this is going on another car.
BTW: I heard LT's are a pain in the ass to install.

My reccomendation would be a set of BBK shorties, a BBK of road H-pipe, and american thunder flows. long tubes can be a huge pain in the ass, and aren't much worth it.

i have a 96 GT sorry bout that. im not gonna do the install, im gonna have apex or another mustang shop do a lot of work at one time, because when its in the shop im gonna do underdrive pullies, timing adjuster, possibly gears, intake, larger throttle and MAF, full exhaust, all at one sitting. and im thinkin about having the battert relocated to the trunk also.

Damn.... you're lucky.... I have to go one mod at a time. Insufficient funds.

LTs are a pain to install as stated above, especially for the 4.6 GT. Apex would be a good place to inquire about the exhaust..if you can float the bill, go with bassani catback and x pipe. Dont know if its really worth it with headers if you have a N/A engine. Dynomax catback would be my second choice for catback and magnaflow isnt too shabby either.
Goodluck.

on another note, have you done a head swap with a 99+ head yet? if not that should be done first and foremost before these mods as for pretty much the same amount of money u will gain a lot more HP.
I'd go with what Dave stated. BBK is great quality for a really good price. I've got BBK equal length shorties, and BBK O/R X-pipe. My crossover pipe is 3" and I think it might have been little to big in retrospect though. I'd go with BBK though. They are a really good deal. Bassani stuff is bank.

I just got BBK shorties with a BBK o/r pipe and I highly recommend getting them, I've heard LT's are a major pain to install and that's why I went with shorties. I've opted for Dynomax Race Bullet mufflers (love the way they sound) and had a local muffler shop fabricate some 2.5" tailpipes to go with it. But I really agree with Lilghoust, you should really look into a 99+ PI heads and intake swap. I myself am done with my exhaust set-up and I'm only planning on doing some suspension mods before I start saving up for the heads and intake swap.

well after havingplenty of time to think about what im gonna do to my car, (flying from vegas to SJ) im gonna go ahead and build a 5.4 motor in my garage. it will be supercharged, and im gonna run a 99 cobra intake with 4v heads. just need to dos oem research to see if i can find some more aggressive cams for the heads, well more tuned for a blower motor. now all i have to do is save up alot of money.....
dvs are you running a SHM motor, how is their customer service and such, easy to work with, cause im also thinkin about their 5.4 shortblock...

back to what i was saying...going with a shortblock would save me some headaches im sure, since i have never built a motor before. so building a 5.4 modular might be tricky. and if i do get a new motor, i thinkin i should either have my tranny rebuilt and strenthened, or should i just buy a new one, and then i got to make sure my rearend is good, cause i do not want to blow a rear end again, any other suggestions for putting in a new motor, cause i know i'll need to upgrade my cooling system, ecu, and some other things, and tips or such.

whoa, where'd that come from? Anyways, whynot just order the cobra crate engine?(i think it's out)
Navigator crate motor. MMmmmmmmm. Cobra R like whoa! MPS has 03 Cobra motors. Check it out: http://www.stangparts.com Somewhere on there, they have the motors from wrecked cars and stuff I think.
I just checked and they have motors from the Mach 1 for like $3,800. They have complete 2000 Cobra motors with tranny and all accessories for $6,000. The motors w/o tranny and w/o accessories is $3,750. :)

i've thought about it a little, a 351 would be nice, like maybe bored .20 over and increase the stroke a little, i know a guy who has a 383 in his saleen, and it is pretty damn quick. the 5.4 would bolt right into my existing k-member, i don't know if a 351 would bolt in.
