Fill it full of audio/video, put it on 19's, paint it lime green, tint the windows. Instant entertainment rocket.

it would be a decent ice racing/rallycross car.

i was thinking of making it into a sleeper, like dropping a flat six turbo out of a forester.

you would have major problems with getting the electronics and fuel system to work with such a much more modern motor. Also I'd worry about the aging and frail driveline holding all the power and I'd worry about the againg and worn out suspension and frame holding all that aditional weight and stress.

actually it is in really good condition, new suspension all round.

I still think it would be way too much trouble for what it's worth, by the time you're done it would still end up weighing only about 500 lbs less than a forrester, and a forrester isn't exactly a race car.

youre in california, and its not smog exempt... so you cant have too much fun with it.

can you drive good? you could use it to learn how to counter serious understeer with it.

im a fine driver, and would like to take it to autox, but would i look like an i idiot? i would like to do it just to see how i can drive. i have another car so im not desperate to race.

take it to autoX for sure. as long as you dont act like an asshole then no one will give you shit. just go and have fun you have nothing to lose so you can beat the absolute hell out of the car and not even worry about it.
go have fun man.
