Brother and i wanted to get a new project car, something different from all them Civic's and Integra's, and i currently own a Civic. We're looking at the Toyota MRS with the 6-speed SMT, but i was wondering what could you do to the transmission? Can a 2zze-fe swap in and still keep the SMT? and basically whats the potential speedwise, i think they look hella nice with sum rims and dropped.

Actually your better bet would to be to get the older mr2 1990 upbefore it went to the MRS. More potential for upgrades. With the new MRS the engine compartment is rather small less the upgrades. Not to mention does not come with a Hard top, although i think u can buy one in the aftermarket.

The manual and SMT on a mr-s is 5 speeds, also the SMT shifts so much slower than a manual or even a good automatic(especially one which you set the valve body right, 1 sec for a shift), it even was a significant amount slower than a regular manual. Remember its the same type of technology in the Ferrari 360, but on a 25k car.
