I HEARD ABOUT PEOPLE CLEARING OUT THE TAILIGHTS BY THEMSELFES ON THE 300ZX BUT I JUST WANNA KNOW HOW TO DO IT EXACTUALLY BEFORE I TRY 2 DO ANYTHING... IF ANYBODY KNOWZ HOW 2.. RESPOND
Instructions
Take out the 10mm nuts holding the rear plastic covers from the rear.(1)
Once removed, remove all the 8mm bolt on the back of the tail lights(unpluging them before hand).(2)
Heat the lenses from inside and along the edge of the outside edge with a hair dryer. Once heated then push on the back of the lense and pry the front(carefully) with a flat head screw driver.(4)
Remove the lenses trying not to get the tar on the Z.
Pre heat the oven at 400 degrees.
Make sure to remove the hex screw from the back of the tail lights and remove the bulb assembly.(5)
Place in the oven with the yellow(amber part down towards the heat and heat for 12-15 minutes(depending on how hot your oven is).(6)
Once heated, remove and with latex gloves on(to keep hot tar off you), place a very small flat head screw driver in the rounded corner of the lense and pry it out alittle. You might need to pry alittle more on down the side too. Once it has pulled apart some, use you FINGERS to pull apart the rest of the way.(8)(9)
With the help of a friend or a nail hold the lenses apart long enough to remove the amber lense and replace with the "pre cut" lense. Once in place push the lenses back together with your hand and heal of your palm.(10)(11)
Once the lense is back there will be a gap from the clear lense and the front of the lense system, you will need to take a long screw driver and push the lense flush with the lense system. So that there are no noticeable gaps from each.(12)
Clamp the lenses back together with any means possible. If you dont have those, then use some vise clamps or some heavy object to keep the lense from coming apart.(13)
Once cooled down and sealed, ***replace the hex screw to the back of the lense.
