Hey ya'll something similar has probably been posted but I can't find anything so here i go.
Well this might seem corny but im doing a speech on you guessed it, streetracing. "Illegal Streetracing" i should say. Anyway my teacher said i need to get some experiences from real streetracers and what they find passionate about the whole thing. So why do u guys streetrace? what is it that attracts you to it? Any funny/sad/happy/thrilling stories out there during a night out at the races?
kthxbi

The stupid idiots that get pulled over and told to go home but deicde to stay and hang around for a lil bit and get towed....
and jsut to see the looks on people when you bring crazy shit to the runs... like an rx7 with a mustang motor... a 94 that look like a 99 civic.... a stock looking Integra automatic with Nitrous fully exposed...
that looks that you get from people are priceless and it makes you laugh that people are so clueless and dont know what they are up against....
i guess i just love the looks/expression that people have when we roll by

Bragging rights....and its always fun to watch the import guys jaws drop when you rev your healthy v8 with flows and turndowns. I get a kick out of intimidating them....

When you're giving it all you've got, and you're still not quite quick enough...
Then the next day you go back with a different set of cams and ECU setup, and that very same car that you couldn't beat is just a pair of headlights in your rear view mirror. ;)
Why Race? because baseball, baskettball, and football only require one ball.
Oh yea, nothing like bragging rights when my little ole I-6 has to beat up on some V8s ;)

I hear ya man! :)
Try running anti-lag and let it just idle and just before you run, give it a little rev and scare the shit out of the civic next to you or the camry ;) that really confuses the ricers :)

i like the real race cars not the rice.
1. primered domestic muscle on slicks or drag radials
2. anything with a big block, especially a station wagon
3. the look on a ricer's face when the fast cars roll by
4. the shocked look of the kids as the cops roll up check out my dragbike, while the ricers are hauling ass out of the parking lot.
5. any real race car, import domestic, on slicks
6. any car that is old school, and does not look like a wings west or sparco catalog(early z's and 510's,anything with a rotary and just about anything made before 1980's)
actually the best part is sticking around, until all the kids and rice go home. talking and hanging with the real racers, waiting to get a race off.

I love smelling the gas, hearing the engines purr like kittens one second and then growl like wolves the next. The feel of gliding that thing into gear and knowing the guy beside me better be packing some heat or he'll be going home with a lighter wallet.

it trips me out man, some of these kids think that the honda racers invented the engine swap in the 80's. dude i like all that funky stuff, the stuff that you don't see all the time. i also like early mazda rotaries. the last time i was at wilow springs there was this old guy (65 yrs old) driving this this early eighties accord 4-door. this thing had a full cage and slicks. it was not real fast, but he was having fun. i think that was the coolest car there that day.......what was irwindale like last night?

:flip: why do i streetrace. taking peples money. grabbing 4th gear and hanging the ass end out at 90 mph. the smell of VHT at a money race, hanging the front end in the air, on the street. watching 1500 hp "street cars" being trailered to a remote spot, and dragging the way it's meant to be. why do i streetrace, because it's fucking fun.

They have no car knowledge and no driving skills. Theyre making it dangerous and unorganized.
You wont see me out in one of those spots ever again.
I avoid them and no longer risk myself.
If anyone is gonna kill me, its gonna be me.
Streetracing used to be about a couple people getting together to have a friendly race to test how their knowledge and skills came together to create a car.
When those elements are present again, so will i be.

amen brotha!
this is the way i always pictured streetracing. it's a shame i got into it too late. i've only done a few races but what draws me to it is the test of my car VS the other guys car. just having that faith and knowledge in your car, to know exactly when you can or can't win a race.

Not really answering your question, but..
Everything that was fun and sacred about Street Racing in the Bay Area died about 6 or 7 years ago. Anybody who got into the game (in the Bay Area) after that never knew and will never know what it meant to street race in the Bay.

hmmm i'm startin to realize i don't like racing, once i get above 100 i start gettin so unnerved, i don't think it's a good idea for me to be racing, but i've now had the greatest feeling in the world, now that my break in is done, i decided to let my dad drive the supra to have a little fun with it. i realized how great it feels to know that all the hard work i put in on that car that it's all been worth it. personally i'd rather build up cars and watch them race than race it myself.

exactly, i think if you get even the slightest uneasiness, then you prolly shouldn't be racing, i get more joy outta fixing up cars rather than driving them.
