i AM PLANNING ON PUTTING A B16A IN MY HATCH AND WANT TO KNOW IF ITS LEGAL?ALSO WHAT DO I NEED TO MAKE IT ALL LEGAL AT THE REFEREE, AND WHATS THE FINE IF U GET CAUGHT AND ITS NOT REGISTERED YET AT REFEREE. LET ME KNOW THANKS

if it's a USDM B16A and you leave all the smog equipment on it, then yes, it can be made legal.

wHY NOT A JDM B16A?I THINK IVE SEEN IT BEFORE HERE IN CALI..

i've read the entire laws for the conversions, and it has to be a US-spec engine. Maybe the guy you saw had a JDM valve cover.

My cuz just got a JDM b16 installed in his 89 hatch and it almost passes smog. Its off by a few points. He is getting a new computer and a fuel controller, it should pass after he installs them. If u do get a JDM b16, it will need a lot of tweeking to get it to pass smog.
