On my way to school early last week I was cruisin on 680 south just about to pass the Mission Blvd exit, my convertible top hold down ( AKA motorcycle tie-down) cam e loose and I pulled over in between the offramp and the onrampstillon the side of the freeway. I jump out and fix up my make shift top hold down, and get in, anxious to make a high-speed merge back onto the freeway. I crane my head around to watch for a hole in traffic and notice a nice opening if I acted quickly...As I am about to launch, I noticed a silver Posche Boxster with the top down getting onto the freeway just passing me on the right, on the other side of the island doing about 30-35 mph. I take off fullthrottle, perfect launch, no wheel spin, a fat bark of tires and little waggle of the rear end when I hit 2nd, line up with him...I hear him push it to try to beat me to the merge onto the freeway, I move over a lane and keep the secondaries wide open passing 6800 rpm, slight bark of tires as I hit 3rd, ahead of the porsche now by three cars....I run it up to 6500 in 3rd gear, over 100 mph... and was 5-6 cars ahead of the porsche, I let off and he went by me with a wave and a gun of engine, I grinned to myself and settled in to a nice cruise in overdrive to get next to him and he gave me a thumbs up.... I don't know fast those cars are supposed to be, but I beat him pretty good...I wish I could have kept going after 3rd gear, but my AOD won't up shift into overdrive when I am on the gas...I don't know why.
