View Full Version : I guess an APC sticker makes you fast....

Okay, someone explain this to me. Why does putting a big APC decal on your rear window suddenly make your car fast? Case in point:
Last Saturday I was driving out on the local highway, when at a stoplight ahead I saw a black civic (had aftermarket wheels and tinted windows - that's all I could see from there) and a light blue probe sitting at the light, waiting to make a left turn and get onto the highway going the same direction I'm going. It's common knowledge that there are rarely if ever any police on this particular stretch of highway. I had the green light, so I went through and backed off a little to wait for the civic. I never saw the civic, don't know what happened to it. About a mile later I see the probe coming up in my rear view mirror. He proceeds to pass me, pull over in front of me, and then slow down. That's when I see the big white APC sticker. Since it was basically a stock probe (not the turbo/gt model or whatever it was), I just pulled over in the other lane and started to pass him and go on my merry way. At about 80 I realize he's still trying to stay beside me. Then - here's the kicker - I hear him revving his engine, and the guy in the passenger seat is mouthing something to me. I shake my head, downshift to 4th, and floor it. He keeps up for about 10 feet (until the turbo spools up), then starts to get really small in my mirror. After about a mile, and running a little over 110, I let off to wait for him. Just about the time he gets to me, he slows down and turns off. Idiot. He better call APC and let them know that something's wrong with their decals....
By the way, I'm not saying anything negative about APC, their products, their employees, their families, their dogs, where they went to school, or anyone whose initials happen to be A.P.C., so I don't want to get any "you're wrong, APC stuff is good" comments. I'm only commenting on the fact that people seem to think that putting a big APC sticker on their car suddenly makes their car fast.

No wonder you won! lol I see huge APC stickers all the time here. Back windows, windshields, small ones on the body/side windows, whatever, they are all over the place. Its common knowledge an APC sticker generates 12 hp and 15 lbs of torque at the wheels. By the way, the company manufactures total crap, but they are rich because America is full of morons. :) Bad products, good marketing.

As far as APC, they amde the clear corners, parking lamps, and my euro tails on my truck and yes there is the larger of their decals on my back window and the 2 smaller ones one my side back window above my Z-71 decals but hey Im not claimng a HP/Torque gain:mad:

It could be different in other places but around here (510), usually wannabe racers have APC stickers... when i say wannabe, i mean hubcaps with built in rotors hahah... with exhaust tip add on and drives really fast..

:haha: There are some kids at my school who seems to think the same thing. One guy is a red and brown Eclipse, just a plain red and brown Eclipse. He seems to think that since it's an Eclipse it automatically goes fast.
Then the other guy has a black Civic with after market wheels and some decals. This guy tried to pulls out of the parking-lot one day and the guy sounded like it was straining and he couldn't even get a spin, just a little jerk. I was laughing as the guy was trying to pretend it never happened.

They're always on the ghetto rides. The mid-80s 4-cyl FWD sedans. With huge exhaust tips (not mufflers, just the tips), chrome trim on everything, purple bubbly tinting, bumper almost falling off from getting push started so many times, and those "R Racing" stickers they're selling at PepBoys.

I've got the proof right here. Dyno results that prove an ASC sticker adds more horsepower than most other modifications.

i have apc clear corners and head lights on my 96 mustang. they burnt out my DRL...........havent really noticed any sort of power gain.......must be lack of stickers. i guess the product itself does absolutely nothing except destroy my stock wiring and electronics. no i didnt waste the money on these rice lights (although the highbeams are FUCKING bright ) they came on my car when i bought it.
