Why does nos have to be purged

Nitrous doesn't have to be purged; but it's a good idea to anyway.
It makes sure that the system has the correct pressure, the jets are clean and there's no air or blockage along the way.

In other words, it makes it ready to be used and makes sure everything's cool.

The way I like to describe it is when you first turn on the shower in the morning. Hot water doesn't instantly come out because the water lines are full of cold water. It is the same thing with a nitrous system. The lines are filled with air instead of liquid nitrous,so therefore, to get an instant spray of liquid nitrous, the air can be let out in the form of a purge. That way, there is no lag or bogging when the extra fuel is sprayed into the engine, but without liquid nitrous to match it.
