It was a fun day, the storm cleared in time to race and we never saw the 2nd front. i had a blast as did all the other focii out there, except for the fact that 3 of the 5 focii suffered mechanical failure, myself included. somehow i managed to blow my flexpipe and strip a wheels stud while out there...no biggie. $200 in parts and a little wrenching and my baby will be even better than new. Thats the one upside to breaking stock parts...you get to replace them with better aftermarket parts... Thankfully no one was hurt. I will be getting pics soon, and i will post them. I also have an awesome photo of me coming down turn 4 but i am exhausted right now and i will post it up later.
i was putting the car into some very nice 4 wheel drifts coming out of turn 5, nice enough to have a guy come up and ask me if i had the RWD conversion...lol

It has been said that you are not truly racing, until you are breaking things.

so i guess I'm a real racer now, huh? lol

i cant wait to get back to the track.
next month i'm going to Sacramento Raceway for Test-n-Tune, i have yet to see what the SE-R does in the 1/4.

What's a flexpipe? And how did it break?
Do you notice any difference in handling with the cage installed?

here is a shot of one. most of the time you will see them right before your cat, on the flange that joins them together.
i hope the picture helps.

Yeah. on the focus it connects the cat (or the header if you have a raceheader w/no cat) to the exhaust. i think the fact that it is the only stock part in my exhaust system (1-7/8" as opposed to all 2-1/4") led to its destruction. oh well. the only bad thing is after it broke i couldnt break 100 on the track and i was getting passed a lot :(

EDIT:

Yeah pat, the cage really stiffened me up. Now i need a better suspention to compliment the stiffness. SVT springs just arent cutting it anymore. maybe SVT springs and Koni yellows? or the eibach pro-kit plus...mmmm

no tire on the ground= no control. on that corner anyway. but about sac raceway, its pretty cool. i went for the first time about 2 months ago and i like it. a good mix of imports and domestics. i feel everyone should try track racing atleast once. i'm still a dumbass and street race occasionally but hey its what i grew up on. i need to be weened off it. but the track is tougher than the streets in my opinion. you have to be fast and consistant. on the streets i kick ass but ive lost to much slower cars at the track simply because they were closer to their dial in or i broke my dial in. more practice and more consitancy and i'll be tearin it up.
