Honda S2000 vs Mustang GT

I was driving to the pizza meet last nite when we come across a S2000. It looked so sweet. It was Yellow with a black top. I was going down in my Mustang and had a couple of buddies running with me, a GSR and a Civic EX.

I rev at the guy but nothing comes of it so I just pace him for a bit and move on up. The GSR gets behind it and puts on his flashers. The S2000 high beams me and I slow down. Traffic is very light up ahead and we have a straightaway coming up. We line it up at 70mph. I play with the throttle to let him hear my growl. He waits for me to punch it and as soon as I do, he does too. We are neck and neck up till 90mph. As I shift up to 4th, the S2000 inches ahead. Damn 9k redline on that car keeps it moving up, pulling ahead.

Our exit is coming up so we both call it quits. Looks like he was going to the same meet as us. We pull in the parking lot and the guy gets out of his car and comes up to me. Shakes my hand and introduces himself and I gave him props on the win.

I probably go thru about 2 or 3 races a week. I drive the freeways a lot so I catch a lot of action. Then there is always those weekend illegal runs that are so popular.

Man, I know, I was kinda disheartened that I couldn't match speed with the S2000. But then again, my car is built more for the 1/4 mile, and the S2000 just gets better at top end. Oh well, maybe one of these days I will line up against one at the races. It is a hell of a car though.

Hey, that me that was on the other end of that race!! It was the first time I really got into it with anyone and it was a lot of fun! I remember looking at the speedomoter as I shifted into 6th and seeing 135.. woah..

That was my first even with SRO and I had a good time. A bunch of guys from the BAAE (Bay area auto enthusiasts) and whatnot.. The car is completely stock and I just got it back from the shop..

Hey man! Just wanted to tell ya good job on that kill dude...I have hanged with NSX's before so I was surprised that your S2000 was such a kick ass car on the top end. Email me sometime bro and maybe we could hook up and talk smack or something. I have never ridden in an S2000 before, maybe u could give me a ride??

I was surprised too, like I said I have never run with anyone before..
I would totally be interested in going out to the drag strip sometime and running with ya! that would be cool, we could switch up cars and run against each other at least once.. can't say I have ever driven a mustang before!
