i'm pretti sure this topic has been discussed before, but i just wanted to throw out a quick question. i have a honda accord '96 and i have stock chrome 15" rims w/ yokos. i found two sets of 17" rims, racing harts and 5zigen, for decent prices. the racing harts come with pirellis and the 5zigens come with falkens. anyhow, should i really upgrade my rim size to 17" or should i stick with what i got? basicalli, i'm asking, does 17" rims really help handling, etc. the thing is the tires on the 17" rims are the same width as my tires i have rite now (205). thanks guys.

I would keep that money and put it towards mods. Rims can wait, go for the sleeper look.

17" rims with performance tires will make it handle better, especially in the rain, but not nearly as much as a quality suspension setup of spring/coilovers and performance shocks or struts.
If you just want handling, go with suspension upgrades, and tire upgrades, you don't need bigger wheels.

the bigger the rims..the slower your car will go...

i would say a combination of the 2, get the rims and get your suspension done and it will handle pretty damn good, you might be able to fit 210 on those rims but i doubt it better off w/ the 205's

kenshi is more or less right. bigger rims, especially cheap cast rims, will tend to weigh more than your stockers, so it will hurt your acceleration. if you want bigger rims, i'd suggest getting 16's. it's a good compromise between looks and performance.
that said, better tires and suspension upgrades help handling more than bigger wheels. and when i say suspension upgrades, i'm not talking about slamming your car to the ground, but getting good springs AND shocks, along with alignment and camber kit, if needed. then think about STB's and sway bars.
re: rain performance, it's more about the tires than it is about the wheels. get good tires and you'll notice a world of difference.
