Yea i cant believe im racing a Celica...but anyways i was bored and going home so whatever. So yea im going down Tracy blvd. and i see a celica, whatever, but it seems like he was sorta following me behind, and after the light i make a right lane change. I drive off a little faster and i hear his engine ..next thing we're racing. FUN hehe...i dunno remember exactly how fast i was going but i was flooring that shit and i shifted to my 3rd Gear and i was flying. He kept up pretty good but he couldnt past me cuz i would just go faster. was kinda scary at the end of the road cuz we weren't braking and it was a red light ...but made it safe...at the end he and his friend just gave me a thumbs up, and i was like coo. Yea thats my story.

Actualy, Mercedes makes only automatics if I recall correctly, not even real manumatics all that much. Besides which, I sincerly doubt what this person is saying, a grand total of running a red light, owning a AMG and racing a Celica? Somehow I'd put more faith in this story if he had used proper grammer...

BTW which year AMG?

well based on his screen name, we're dealing with someone who supposedly owns a 1995+ C36 AMG, which has a Base price of ~52,000 USD.

Currently selling at (thanks to a search at www.autotrader.com)

Average Price: $22721 Lowest Price: $10600 Highest Price: $36500

Not exactly something that someone who can't capitilize an "I" can afford.

"Based on the now demised C-class generation introduced in 1995, the C36 AMG was the first automobile modified by an outside firm and sold officially as a Mercedes. Like other AMG cars, the C36 was a limited production model, only 200 examples were imported to North America until production halted in 1998. The 4 valves/cyl, inline six engine is based on the unit found in the C280, but with a 1.1 mm increase in bore diameter and a huge 18.9 mm increase in stroke length. The compression is also slightly stepped up to 10.5:1 while the electronics have been recalibrated, more agressive camshafts have been fitted and a freer-flowing exhaust bolted on. The result is 276 horsepower at 5750 rpm and 284 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm, 82 more horsepower than the C280 and 36 more than the BMW M3.

A genuine manual transmission is a missed feature, however the five-speed automatic which can be shifted manually through the gates is quite effective. The C36 uses 12.6 inch vented disc brakes up front and 10.9 inch units in the rear, salvaged from the 900 lb heavier SL600 and just like it's big brother, provides excellent braking performance. The halt from 60 mph is completed in 114 ft, slightly longer than the M3 and C43, however from just 30 mph its 28 foot stopping distance is actually one foot better than the M3. Once the traction control has been swithced off the handling is also excellent with a 66.5 mph slalom run and a 0.87g rating on the skidpad. The interior is well appointed but quite tight but, hey, who really cares? Can't anybody do something about that darn price, though?"

Sorry, but being a fellow Benzo driver, I would have to say that an AMG can own a new Celica's ass, unless it was a tuned GT4, then things would be different. You got twice his HP and more importantly torque.

The "snake shifter" is probability the smartest thing benz had ever made. I can assure you that the simple snake shift in my 10 year old car is up to par with most of the "tiptronic" gadgets that you see in new cars like the Type S.

I while ago, I tried a 70's SL with a 3.8L V8, with 2-300HP(?). Becuase of old brake pads, I was afraid to give too much gas. I just tapped on the pedal and the car was going at city speed already. The seats were old and uncomfortable and the steering was stiff, but the power is still there.

ridge, no one's doubting that a c36 AMG would own a Celica, what I doubt is that it doesn't reall sound like mister "benz" owns one.

Hmmm and you know something, I live in one of richest towns in America, I've seen a rich kid driving around in Z8. Yes you read Z8, not Z3. I've seen any number of insane and inane things happen. I also know that these kids know how to spell properly, they get As in their classes and aren't a bunch of idiots.

In fact a c36AMG isn't even expensive really only 22k. Any adult who loves car's can easily afford one (assuming you know.. 50k+ yearly salary here). But a punk kid who signs onto a message board, posts once. Doesn't respond when he is called :bs: .... Somehow that reaks of total :bs:.
