oh yeah I think I saw a focus and a saturn run once at the races. The focus looked like it won. Either it didn't have enough power to spin um off the line or he got a really good launch. either way it was entertaining to watch.

I took a beater to the races once just for fun, to see
what kinda reaction I'd get.
My beater is a 1985 Volvo DL sedan, otherwise known as
"the shoebox" or "tank".
You would not believe how many people pointed at my beater
and laughed. My friends sunk low in the seats so that they
would not be spotted in my ride. HAHAHHAA.
Unfortunately my Volvo can't even beat a 1988 Honda Civic
hatchback 4spd with 250K miles on the engine. But
I'm pretty sure that if the Volvo was a manual I'd be
able to keep up. ;)

hahah.. those old Volvos can take lots of punishing. My dad's Volvo survived 4 floods. You can probably filp those volvos off a cliff and it will still drive.

well, depends on the person. if ricers show up and start thinking they the shit, they get laffed at. but i can understand if someone doesn't have a fast car for whatever reason and just wants to have fun, i'll like race them and only use 2 gears sometimes. it's all in fun, people need to remember that.

once you hit redline (and you hit redline reallll quick

i been to one b4, with a stock 93 Civic CX(gf's ride), just want to have fun and see how it can perform, everyone is like laughing, i am like what the hell, afterwhile nobody laugh at me again when i pull out my Talon Tsi and hit very low 12's (ugh, i am a Mitsu fans since i am 6)

You know what? It's funny you should mention seeing a Civic
totaled from rearending a Volvo. Cuz somethin similar to
that happened to me. I was just sitting at a red light
when a woman driving a brand new Acura CL? or TL? one of
those sedans smashed into me. I guess she didn't realize
the light was red. Anyway, the whole front of her car
was jacked. Shocked, I turn to look at my car, only to
see that there was no damage other than a few scratches
on the black rubber bumper. Hahahaha. My bumper didn't
even get pushed in or moved (at least not noticably).

Gotta love them Volvo tanks!

P.S., ever notice how in the movies, stoner teens and
loser teens always ball around in those old Volvos? I
always laugh when I see one in the movies being driven by
teens, cuz it's so true. A lot of parents buy their kids
a beater tank as a first car, so that they will be protected
haha. At least that was true for me, my Volvo was a
hand-me-down and my parents forced me to drive it as my
first car cuz they thought it would be more safe for me.
Little did they know I took that box to the parking lot
at night and did donuts, slides, and in general, tried to
flip it ;)

I know about the tank issue. I had to lug around a 1980 Diesel Mercedes Benz. That thing took about half a minute to hit 60 mph. But it was a fortress.

When I took my SE-R for the first time, I got laughed at. People thought I was lugging around an old Corolla. All these ricers were laughing at me when I lined up with an Si. Let's just say around 15 and a half seconds later a lot of people were shocked.

Well, i mean what are some of these POS cars doing at the runs (408)? I will tell you, they take up valuable space,and then when you have 600 cars and only 10 race....the cops can find ya easily. i mean 600 imports buzzing down montague....hmmm looks a little suspicious. I mean if you bring a car out and never race...i think those people belong somewhere else. If you bring a pos and race....more power to you!.....the people that are spectators and have season tickets to the illegals should actually race....i mean it is not called street cruising...that is for lowriders. Plus look at all the peeps that hit up chevron....half of them stay there the whole night...LOL...what a joke....that is total garbage. When i started going racing in 95....man everyone wanted to race...and everyone wanted to be quick. That is when there were numerous 12 sec hondas on the streets and even 11 sec cars too. (wicked, D1, Redzone, etc...)Sometimes we would line up to race and have to wait like 30 minutes cuz so many cars were ahead of us. no days all people do is floss there show car sedans with 25 inch chrome wheels, dvd players, dual exhausts, colored interior, and combat style body kits with rambo wings......i mean that defeats the entire purpose of streetracing!.....back in 95...no one had back seats...we would take them out to drop weight. People then loved the hardcore attitude...no days people want to showoff more than race.....WE all have to come together to keep Nor cal street racing alive....it was once at its best.....we had the numbers back then (amount of racers), but now we have even more with the new generations.....we have to dominate.....I say down with show cars at the street races, down with gangbanger racers, down with spectators that dont ever run.......these are the cancer of the illegals......

even just a couple of years ago it was better then it is now. When I first started the whole street racing thing I was lucky if I got a couple of runs in...and I was even more lucky if I won the race because there were so many fast hondas out there. I'll admit that I like to watch the races but once I see a couple of races go down then somthing comes over me and I just can't help myself. I must race. I think I'm addicted,.

hey...what school do you go to? If you're the person I'm thinking of then you go to foothill and you drive a marron gst eclipse (clean looking I might add)...and we've raced and you killed me. lol...well I got the red si prelude and yeah pkr is a new crew. So far it's worked out hella good for everybody in it. I mean we all hook eachother up if we can get something for a discounted price, help eachother install stuff. It's kind of fun. we are basically just 10 good friends. I'll talk to you later.

There is no street racing scene where i live so I can't comment on that, but I am up at the local drag strip nearly every week in the summer. The weak cars are anything running 15's or slower.

I remember the last time i was there with my previous Mustang there was a kid with an ********(not going to say what it was so people won't think i'm dissing the car). In the staging lanes he was claiming he was running 12's. Well, he notices he was going to line up with me so he starts talking trash about me to his buddy. (keep in mind i don't know him) He starts yelling over to me that he's gonna embarrass me and he "eats 5.0's for breakfast" To make a long story short, i ran a 13.8 and he ran 15.7! He got back in the staging lane and kept his mouth shut the entire night!

My favorite is when stock-appearing cars show up and kick everyone's ass. My boy had an ex-trooper LX coupe that looked bone stock, except window tint and being lowered. It had heads, cam, nitrous, Tremec, gear, headers, off-road, and Borla super quiet mufflers.

We showed up at the local spot and some 40 year old redneck asked if we wanted to run and started laughing at my boys ten holes (phone dial looking stock LX wheels). We didn't get a chance to look at his ride before Matthew went off and told him to bring his shit. Well, dude roll up in a pro-street, wanna-be Judge GTO. I figured we were toast, but we stroked that mofo like a porn-star! When we got out after the run, dude wouldn't even talk to us and all his peeps were laughing his ass out!
