Hey SJpopo, first of all i want to thank you for all the info in previous posts...i just wish that all officers would explains their tickets with the same attitude.

Anyways, I got a moving violation and since it was my first, i was allowed to take traffic school. On my court papers, it says that i have to register for traffic school and take the class within 4 months. I called up traffic schools and they said that i don't have to register, but just show up at classtimes. I asked them about the 10 day registration limit, and they told me not to worry about it. Well, of course, i'm still worried about it. It's been over 20 days and i don't want to void my traffic school privilege. Any advice about the general issue would be appreciated.

Man, I really don't know. If I were going to sign up for traffic school, I would just call the one in the yellow pages that looked like it was closest to my house and ask how to sign up. If they said just to show up, then I'd do that ASAP.

It's my understanding that different counties have different rules about traffic school. For instance, if you're caught for speeding in certain counties, you can do your traffic school online.

Austin: Great advice! If you're going to mail anything to the DMV (or IRS), make a copy (front and back) of everything you send before you send it. If you want to be super cautious, take your letter to the post office and get a return receipt and/or registration for the letter. It will cost an extra buck or two to send it, but you will get a postcard in the mail that is signed by the DMV which says that they received it.
