I am about to get a 2002 mustang cobra and I want to know if all you
car experts out there could give me advice on how to pump it up.I know
that this car is really fast but I want it to be the fastest around
and able to beat any street racer. I would greatley appreciate any help that you could give me.

Beat *every* street racer? There's guys running 8's or quicker on some of their street cars.

pump it up?
well, go to a gas station. sometimes they charge 50 cents to use the air, but hey, you da man with the cobra, you can spare change right? push the botton and wait for the whirring sound. undo the valve cap and stick the open end of the hose onto it. it should promptly display how much air pressure you have in the tires. squeeze the handle, and the display will dissappear while the tire is inflated. check, and repeat for all four wheels.
best of luck,

seriously man, if your gonna get an 02 cobra, spend the exptra money and get an 03, im sure you know but they all come factory supercharged pushing 360 to the rear, thats a WAY more capable car than the 02, PLUS you get the bad ass warranty that i DIDNT get because i did my supercharger aftermarket.........GET THE 03!

If your gonna get an 02 car, and have enough cash get a camaro.
But, ofcourse, the better choice ( If your a Ford Guy ) Is to buy the 03.It has that warranty since you don't have to supercharge from the aftermarket, and that will help out a bit.

Let me know where your going to get the 02 Cobra, I'd like to see it since they didn't make one, for the later years it was just 99, 01 and 03. I would go with the 03, add a smaller blower pulley, full exhaust, gears, sticky tires and you'd be tough to beat. You would probably still lose to alot of other cars, but I don't think you would be able to beat EVERY street car, there is ALWAYS someone faster ...

Actually, they did make a 2002 cobra, so before you jump on someone else in your first post, why don't educate yourself before you start to infect the rest of the population.

Very true, just cuz the 02 cobra was kinda weak, doesnt mean you get to zap them out of existence and say they didnt make one

Umm...no, there wasn't an '02 Cobra. Double Down is exactly correct on his years. The Cobra was made in '75-'79, '93-'99, '01, and '03. That's all. There were some '01s rebadged as '02 models and sold through a few dealers, but the '02 production year was cancelled. 2000 Cobras were also cancelled, as Ford was still working out the issues with their intake manifold from the '99s. Remember the whole "missing ponies" thing? Supposed to be 320 HP, ended up short. That's why there weren't any '00 SVT Cobras. Not to be confused with the '00 Cobra R, which obviously was produced.
EDIT: And SVT just did the '93+ ones. Just so no one is confused. :)

yes svt did do the 93+ but there is an 02 cobra....i wasnt sure of myself after shadydaves input so i called ford like a dork........and yes there is an 02 corbra...i didnt ask how many or if there are more in some states than others....but the guy at ford said they werent that popular because by the time they came out everyone already knew about the 03 to come

Like I said, there were some '02 models, they were sold through a few dealerships, but they were nothing more than unsold and rebadged '01 models...I'm getting this from my neighbor, who works for SVT, by the way. As you say, they weren't popular, and weren't supposed to be. They were sold in the interim while Ford waited for the '03.
If my information is wrong, well, I don't think the guy is lying to me...

actually NO they didn't make a 2002, they released the 2003 Cobra this year, in 2002 in lieu of a 2002 cobra. If I'm wrong, so be it, and the chances of him finding a 2001 rebadged as a 2002 are slim to none. If he really wants the cobra motor in NA form then he can go for the MACH 1. I wasn't jumping all over him, I was just letting him know that most likely he won't be able to beat every street car with a new bodied mustang. Actually anything short of 700-800rwhp probably won't have a shot at the fastest street car title. FYI, I drive a mustang also, so I have nothing against his choice of vehicle ... later ..:o
PS. TT69stang, if you check when I registered, it was about a year ago, I just decided to start posting. I've been lurking around here for a long time just to see whats goin on ...

Nope, they did not make any 02 Cobras.

well then my friend has one of these elusive rebadged cobras, cause the sticker, everything says 2002, title and all....
I don't follow on the newer model cars, I just know that I have ridden in a 2002 cobra, and when I heard that there weren't any, it caught my attention, and double down, I don't car enough to check when you registered, I just saw that it was your first post.
Hey Red-tiger you can find a lot of detailed information on what you can do to a stang like the cobra in any mustang mag in a supermarket, or even more on message boards for mustangs like on corral.net allfordmustangs.com stangnet.com mustangworld.com there are a lot of smart people on those boards. personally, I think if you have maybe 4 grand after the cobra, you could easy make it a car capable of taking out %98 of all cars that are ever going to try to race you on the street by maybe supercharging it, with a few fuel system mods, or maybe even nitrous. Sure there are faster cars that are gonna be in "the 8's" or what not, but realistically, if your car is in the 12s, you are pretty well off on the street and that is not hard to get to with a 4v 4.6 under your hood.

fair enough, hell if your friend has one then I guess youve proved everyone wrong that said otherwise. And I could care less if you have a million and two posts in 2 weeks ... I was simply stating what most people if not all people that follow late model mustangs already knew. Some people are just too sensitive to certain things I suppose ... later ...:hi:

Just out of curiousity, how are there Cobras...but not SVT Cobras? SVT builds the Mustang Cobra, right down to the handbuilt and signed motor. Are you saying that somehow, Ford built '02 Cobras without SVT?

Someone just call ford and see what the hell they say about the '02 cobra's. I have a friend here at work who says there are '02 cobras.

Go read my other posts. There are '02 Cobras, but the production year was offically cancelled. That means that there were 2002 test cars and some were sold through dealers. These cars were nothing more than rebadged 2001 models (with the exception of the mag testers, I don't know about those). There were only a few dealers who got them, not many were produced, the production year was offically cancelled, and they were really 2001 models, but to end this once and for all, yes. There are 2002 SVT Cobras.
