I have a '01 gsr and I heard the ls is the best for turboing, and some people I have talked to recommend I supercharge my car instead of turbo because the turbo could blow my engine and make the car unreliable. What do you think? should I turbo or supercharge and for what reasons? I really want to turbo because I want to make my car fast but I don't want to mess my car up. Please help! Thanks.

you got money?
fuk the supercharger..you can only make soooo much power out of those things..I use to have one i hated it..Though it was fun just not as fun as turbo...

I say go Turbo...there is another girl here with a Turbo GSR...she would be the one to check out!

I say go Turbo though..You can only boost soo much with a stock internal engine though..but hey its fun!

Yeah, I probably will go with turbo, but anyone else got some opinions? Or does anyone have a gsr they have turboed and can tell me how they like it? :hi:

i'd say turbo the gsr. There are alot of people with turbo gsr's and have no problems what so ever. As long as the hook up is done right u shouldn't have an problems. Also Turbo's dont blow motors, stupid people with turbo blow motors. You should be able to boost 5-7 lbs with no problem. Its when u start pushing the limits of the stock internals, that stuff breaks. But if you dont have that much cash to make it real reliable at higher boost levels, then sell the motor and get the ls. With the money left over you could buy some pistons and rods to make it stronger. But what ever route u decide to go, make sure u get i tuned right.

It may not be as safe as a 5-7 lb setting... But I ran 10lbs on my GSR turbo for over 2 years with no problems. It was the Greddy 18g kit, FMIC, full exhaust, fuel, ignition, you name it. On the stock internals. Ran fine till got wrecked. Fast as hell too...

do it:) you'll love it and its worth every penny....just be sure that your ready for turbo...theres a lot more that goes into building a turbo car the right way then just buying a kit and throwing it on....if your just starting out, id suggest learning with the GReddy kit, then once your ready, piece together your own set-up exactly how you want it...thats what i did, and so far so good.

Turbo all the way. Don't worry about doing any damage to your engine. As long as you're not overboosting like 16 psi or something, you should be fine. My friend had the greddy kit on his hatch w/ a gsr motor and had no problems. Actually, it was sick as fawk. ;) Just read up on what you want, need, and you should be ok. Go with the greddy kit for now. You can find used ones all day. Just know what you are getting into before taking the plunge. Good luck. :)

Go turbo, then swap on a type-r head, then just for fun throw on the venom intake manifold. My friends gsr has all this and more(waiting on the 125 shot of laughing gas, he, he, he, he, i think it is working) and it will be hella fast!:haha: :haha: :haha:

If you want a reliable turbo car go with Hondata fuel management such as stage 2b. Get rid all the FMU, fuel pressure regulators, just run with bigger injectors and hondata and you'll be fine. go to http://www.hondata.com and read up

definately good advice. a bit more money, but worth it.

i went with the fmu, fpr route at first and i cant tune my car to its fullest, now im in the process of switching it all over to hondata w/440cc injectors.

The venom intake manifold is only good for high boost. I would recommend the drag over greddy. Like someone said earlier, go standalone fuel management. I have the power fc with 440 injectors, bored out type r throttlebody, skunk 2 manifold, quaife lsd, 7lb flywheel, 3" exhaust, and an iron face clutch for street/strip. Loads of fun. I'm running 11psi and it hauls ass. Have fun!

Well it really isn't a type-r head really anymore. Almost everything in it is titinuim. Valve, spring, reatiners, almost everything is changend out.

turbo GSR and turbo LS are both great, the GSR although doesnt feel as strong, but it IS faster than a turbo LS< it does pull more HP ratings. If your worried about fitment/issues/ emmisions.etcc go with the greddy, if you want all out power just go with the drag or revhard kit because they have a bigger turbo they flow more CFM, a smaller turbo at 10 psi doesnt " FLOW" at the same rate of a BIG turbo at 7 psi (i.e its easier to blow your motor with a bigger turbo at 10 psi than it is with a smaller greeddy like turbo @ 13 psi) if you want street driving power, quick spool up, go with the greddy. From past experienced, the turbonetics turbos that DRAG supplies with their gen 1 and gen 2 kits are kinda crap, bearings wear out fast and leak oil ( past experiences with my brother/drag turbo kits), but to make power you gotta be ready to fork out the dough. like gSR girl said,go with a greddy and then go from there, if not, just go all out with a drag kitk you wont regret it, the feel of boost hitting you at 3200 RPM and your head jerking back into the seat is .. well .. priceless .. just wait till you pump it up to 15 psi( WoOhoOo hooooOo !!!!!!!!)). goodluck .. and

newbie .. shaddap .. just because kira is a girl doesnt mean shes not entitled to her opinion.:flip:
