View Full Version : Missing tickets in the mail
I have 2 moving violations in 2 different cities from 1 month ago (Hayward and Milpitas) but have moved to a different mailing address since then.
I know they usually send you crap in the mail. Who do I contact?

First, go to the DMV and change your address with them. I'm not sure, buy you may be able to get the correct form from http://www.dmv.ca.gov.
Next, call the main number for each department where you got the cites and find out if they want to know your updated address or if updating the DMV is enough.
Last, if you haven't received anything in the mail, go to court on the dates listed on the cites. That will prevent you from getting a warrant for your arrest and/or your license suspended.

Well, you've got two choices then:
1) Change your address with DMV, then call the departments where you were cited. Tell them what happened and ask if a warrant has been issued yet. Most likely, they'll be small warrants and they'll just have you go to the department to get fingerprinted and photographed. Then, they'll give you a new court date.
or
2) Get pulled over for something unrelated and get taken to the police department or jail for a warrant.

Hoyt I had a bench warrant for a no front plate that I didnt pay for like 6 months. I eventually went to the DMV, and sent it in with the ten dollars. Everytime the notice said I had a bench warrant. I assume it went away when I paid it, because ive been pulled over since and the officers never mentioned it.

Most warrants for fix-its are pretty small. After all, it's not even a moving violation. Next time you get pulled over, ask the officer if you have any warrants.
