17000 for a car, and I'm looking at a 97-99 GSX Eclipse, or the new 2003 Tiburon I never would have thought I'd like a Hyundai but it's got more hp than a Celica GT-S and it's supposed be pretty decent. Or I could get another Eclipse. Right now I have a 95 RS, and I'd much rather not bother with it and just jump up to it's AWD turbo brother. What do you guys think? And yes I have read stickies about both cars and no I don't want an Eclipse to make it green and have the damn floorboards fall off when I hit my "Nos" (just to clear it up now). I honestly just like the car.

go for the eclipse gsx definitely. the tiburon is just gonna be a ricer's car. its made to compete with the rsx type s.
The new Tib is nice, but it's gonna be like an Integra, slow unless you sink a lot of money into it. Get the GSX.

Neither, buy my RX-7. =)
If 17k is all you can manage, we can work something out.

i would have to say the gsx all whell drive turbo if u are into the twisties u will love it. just make shure u are happy before u get it.
get the gsx. it's a dsm so it'll have a pretty big aftermarket. the tiburon has a small aftermarket if any, so it'll cost you to go fast. plus the tiburon is pretty heavy (i believe more than 3200lbs.) so it'll take a decent amount of horses to really get it going.

If you could have DSM AWD and turbo, or Southeast Asian V-6, with no aftermarket, yet, get the GSX. It handles better, accelerates quicker, looks nicer, and IMO has a much better interior. I have seen a few nice looking tiburons, but it ain't cheap getting there. And to clear things up, when you compare two cars, and say one is heavy cause it weighs 3200 lbs, and the other car weighs the same, it doesn't really relay the message across.

You just spent 30k on a motor why would you sell me that car for 17? Not that I'm complaining but that's kinda a big loss on your part. That's just the engine too. PLus my insurance is gonna be bad enough with a 200hp car. GSX seems to be the popular consensus otherwise. Minus the Integra of coarse, I don't know I may look into it. Thanks for all the replys everyone. The reasons I was looking at the tiburon was because it was a six speed and actually had a V6 unlike most the sport coupes out today except the new eclipse. But your right it's hella heavy. How much does a GSX weight?

30k miles on the new motor, not $. Its 255hp stock, btw. =)
Isn't a GSX like 200hp also? Try using esurance.com and get some quotes, you'll be surprised.. no pressure though. It just doesn't make any sense to me to choose those two over this. =)
Not that I'm biased. :)

It is a good fast car, but when the RX-7 breaks, it breaks hard.
Ok fine, I'll elaborate, happy? I don't know what happened first hand, because it was my buddy's car. He ran it down at the track in Jersey, I don't know the name, I haven't been with my car yet, but he went one weekend and he came back, he was all pissed about the car or something and needing thousands of dollars, and sorry, I dont know much about Rotary engines, and the kid that people are telling him to buy one, well, if he doesn't have that much knowledge on how it works, or an extensive knowledge on how to fix them, then he will be SOL, and I will get back to you on what happened.

Thanks for your "valuable" educated opinion here. Why bother saying anything if you don't have any first hand knowledge? Why not elaborate?

I've heard alto of good things about RX-7's, I would take one over an Eclipse GSX any day. Well unless the RX-7 wasen't turbo.

I will if you want one that badly :p
If you meant FD, neofreak already said he'd be willing to work something out.

There you go, go buy a nice AWD drive 2.5 RS, hell, you can even put a turbo kit in it, possibly still be under 17000, right?
