I have a 1968 camaro that is completely stock with a 327 2brrl, 8.75:1 compression, and a 2spd power glide. I need to know how high it is reving so I can decide what 4brrl carb to get. Any help would be great.

-Thnx

Get a tach. They're like $30.

If its a 2bbl 327 ill be willing to bet its not gonna see the high side of 5500rpms. You will be very safe with a 600cfm w/ vaccuum secondarys.

If your worried about stock are you planning on running a q-jet?

Nah I'm planning on 600-650 holley, I just want the interior to look as original as possible with out any scratches or holes in the dash from installing a tach. I went and bought a tach today and installed it tonight. I found a screw that holds a cover on the steering column and used it to hold the tach on too. 67Longroof you were correct it revs up to 5500rpms(atleast that was as high as I would rev it because I didn't want to wake the neighbors) damn it was screaming up there too. Can't wait to hear what it sounds like with duals. As for my plans for this car I'm only going to do a 4brrl carb and dual exhaust because its so original and I don't want to do anything that would be to hard to reverse.

Thnx for the help.

I still stand by the statement that you should change the cam. :D

As far as the tach goes, get the little 3 1/2 autometer & mount it on the trans tunnel on the floor, very discreet location. Ive done it on a couple of Camaros and its turned out looking pretty nice. It doesnt work very well if you have a factory console though,

I am using the 3.5" autometer and it's installed on the steering column and it looks pretty nice there. As for the cam, at this point I dont know if its worth it because of the powerglide but down the road I might end up doing quite a bit more to this camaro.

Thanks for the help.
