Used bikes for under $3000?

i dont know anything about bikes AT ALL so help would be appreciatted.. what can i get for this price?

Pretty much anything from the 80s.
Do a search in yahoo classifieds for "honda-all" in that price range.

I would also add any bike from the early 90's. Fzr600, cbrf2, older ninja 6's, and gsxrs6's too. But just be a real good shopper. My friend picked up a '00 f4 for $5k. I have seen a few 99-00 sv650's go for $4-4500k.In fact there are several '95+ fzr600s for sale around the bay for about $3700. Check cycle trader mag for some current prices and available bikes.

Hell, I got one right in front of me, let see:

95 yamaha fzr600 with light mods, $3500 obo
90 zx7 ninja with some new parts, pipe, and polished frame, $1600
2000 kawi 6r, $5800 (threw that in since it so cheap, probably salvaged title tho)
94 f2, $4000
not much else this weeks issue in that price range/sportbike/ and relatively recent model.

I'VE seen some 99-00 SV's go for $7k+, they're getting to be collectors items. ;)

I'm sure you could find a newer Ninja 500 for under $3000 or a Suzuki GS550.
