View Full Version : Went down...
Well,Saturday was a beautiful day,so we decided to hit up HWY 84/Skyline/HWY 1. On the way home,i was takin a right turn at about 45,and an elderly lady hit me head on in her truck. I was in the outside part of my lane, ready to sweep inside, and she came out of nowhere. I flew about 15 feet before sliding. Turns out I have a broken thumb, fractured shoulder, another dislocated shoulder, and a VERY SORE rest of my body.:( I had full gear on,and theres barely a scratch on it. I cant stress how important it is to wear gear out there guys. My bike is comlpletely totalled. Ill post pics when I find out where in the hell they towed it. Looks like I wont be ridin until next season now. Missed Laguna Seca today too :o Ride Safe guys.Peace.

Thats really crappy news man, but good to hear you are OK.
Its her fault right, so make sure you get it totaled out or covered by her insurance co. They will more than likely pay for your gear as well, and I mean ALL of it that got damaged in any way. I had all my gear replaced. They can often cover some wage loss too, and some extra for suffering. So dont be afraid to say,"Hey, I'm in pain and want a grand for it." When I got hit by a lady, not only did they give me full blue book for my bike, they paid for all my new gear, and I got some extra for the pain in the butt being hurt was.
If you are firm on what you want, and they decide that the lady was at fault you should be able to get another bike this season, new gear, and a some extra cash in your pocket. Dont let the insurance push you around and give you half of what your bike is worth. Demand blue book. And if you have any receipts for parts and labor you put into it they should cover that too. Also, be wary if they want to take it to their "own shop" to have it estimated. They more often than not will have a shop that will down play the damage. If you have any marks at all on any part of the bike, you can have it replaced. Just a frame, forks, and plastics will often total out a bike.
Good luck man and keep is updated.
damn mike.....good to hear that youre ok.
what about the license?, or lack there of....
They wrote me a ticket for no licensce. I have heard from different people that this doesnt matter. I have to go to court in a lil bit to see whos fault it was, etc. Physically,I wont be able to ride anytime soon, but Ill be back on two wheels next season GUARANTEED! Ill definitely check into the gear reimbursement idea as well.
damn......i'm glad to see that youre gonna stick with it.....good luck in court

With no license, I have no idea who would end up being at fault. On one hand, the lady hit you, regardless of motorcycle endorsement, she still hit you. But, her insurance may make the argument that since you do not have a valid motorcycle endorsement, you are not qualified to ride, and therefore you put yourself at risk.I feel it doesnt matter if you have a bike license or not, she still would have hit you, so what would the license do? But in court its a different story.
Good luck with it.

it's to bad you can't go get your license now! at lease go get your permit if you dont have one already?. when i got hit i didn't have me license and got a ticket for that. only had my bike here in CA. for 4 weeks before i got into the accident. but since i had my license in hawaii i was able to get it here by only taking the written test and then they cleared the ticket. in your case for your own defense try to get the permit to show the judge that you know the rules and regulations for riding a bike.
