Good riding gear brands...

Im gonna be getting a bike in about a week, and need the gear to go with it.....i was wondering what kind of brands you guys like/dislike, what you use, etc....

I'm talking about all gear.....helmets, jackets, gloves, etc...

Are there any brands that you swear by?

lots of crap to buy, lots of choices..

helemts, i like arai, i wear arai. Here is the one truest piece of advice on helemts, bar none:

if it is SNELL and DOT, then it is good. Dont believe the "get a 10$ helemt for a 10$" head story.

The more u pay for a helmet, the more u get. You can get a perfectly good hjc cl 12 for less than 200$. It will be a bit heavier, have less vents, and the shield wont lock. But protection wise, its all the same. Now if the helmet is only DOT, then your at a risk. With helmets, when you pay more, u get more options. Decide if thats right for you. I like shields that lock, when you got fast some shields will pop up on you. I had a hjc and a shoei rf800, both didnt lock, both would pop open a bit at high speed.

gear wise. gloves, jackets, pants, etc. Any of the big brands are great, all in preference really..

Top of the line is dainese,kushitani, spidi, teknic, vanson, helmut..
the lower brands are agv and hjc, etc. They are all pretty good though, and you usually get what you pay for. The top of the line hjc or agv is as good as a similiar priced teknic for example. Its just with some mnfctrs they have low end models, while guys like dainese or spyke are all top end (700$+ suits 300$+ jackets only, etc. while agv may have a 400$ suit)

if it looks cheap, and is priced cheap, its usally cheap.

I wear an Arai helmet with a Dainese jacket. My gloves are worn down, I don't even know what they are anymore. and I usually just wear jeans when I'm riding around town, or nice leather pants from skintwo.com when I want to let it rip. It's a fetish store. :)
