I think the fzr600 or the cbr f2/f3 are the best bang for the buck. The fzr 600 is a bit better because you can find 95 to 98's for $3500 used. They are just as fast as any new 600, handle real well, and for a beginner are more than powerful. They also have a large aftermarket. The cbr is great too, but they go for alot since they are such great bikes, $3500 might get you 93 or 94.

Yeah I agree

The only thing i know of is you need to watch out for the charging systems on the CBR's... I know several people that are having problems with their CBR's.. but I like the CBRs they are really great bikes...

Id recommend an F2/F3...I really think my bike was a good choice. Plus, the few mods REALLY make a difference in power.

i wanna get into the motorcycle race season and i wanna know if the gsx-r600 or the cbr f3 is worth getting as a beginner harcore race bike? i don't plan on being stupid. i come from a bike background and i think that this would be a good second bike for me. i come from a bmx back ground and i ride at a very competitive level and racing the 1/4 on a bike would be so tight. i love racing with the car but it is to easy to get caught in a car. i want a 600 and i was wondering what the hp and if getting nos would be stupid? and btw i will take the motorcycle saftey classes. that would be stupid if i didn't. later guys. hayabusa's are out of the picture btw. later guys.

So...you wanna race 1/4 mile?! Sport bikes are made for road racing...Yes,there is a rush from blastin down the 1/4 in 10/11 seconds...but its not nearly that of carvin some twisties. If you really wanna drag race,a 600 typically is not the choice. People choose 600's for their lightweight and handling. Stock HP can be between maybe 60 and 100...depending on the year, make, model. This years 600's are pushin between 95-101. The Gixxer makes the most this year. And by the way...I dont think anyone plans on being stupid on a bike...the bike just brings it out of most people. :(
