2001 Stratus R/T Vs Civic Si

just driving around the neighborhood on a quiet Sunday afternoon (Mother's Day) I come across this brand new red Dodge Stratus R/T. Damn, I didn't even know that the Stratus came in an R/T trim level. But anyways it looked clean and later on I find out that the driver was this person that I know...

but anyways first we start racing from a 20-30mph rolling start. He took off first and I do the same right after. He had a fender lead and it stayed that way until about 80mph.

We go up to a stop sign and I talk to the dude. We say the usual "wzup, how u doing" routine and setup a race at the stop sign. There was really no count so it's like we just took off whenever. Well he does first, and I get my sleeping ass to take off too, spinning like hell off the line, he takes a 1 car lead, I give up knowing I messed up and have no chance.

Well we bust a biatch and start over again at another stop sign. Same thing. He has a 1-1.5 car lead.

Damn it I was 0 and 3, lol. But next time at a light or with a flagger, it should be a better race. =)

BTW, those Stratuses look clean!! Anyone know the specs of these?

My friend just got one, they run in the low 15's and are 200 HP. Fun car to drive, handles great.

Yeah, 200hp v-6. Don't know if it is a 5-speed though. I agree they do look pretty tight...

Yeah, now all dodge has to do is turbo it or drop in a V8 to make it compete with stangs and camaros. Still a fun car though...

Stratus R/T's only come in 5spd and use the same 3.0L V6 in the Mitsu Eclipse...200hp, 205trq, 0-60mph 7.9, 1/4mi 15.9@89mph

They already have turbo kits for this car. Bumps up power to 280hp @ 8psi. Mmmmmmm, I want

They come in autostick too. Most of the dealers around here have them like that, not 5 speed. Yuck. Niño are you on the BANEON list?

you're dreaming your ass away if you think they run 15.9's. i watched one at the drags a couple weeks ago pull off a 15.5. those cars haul, simple as that. plus, a 15.9 isn't going to beat a civic si anywhere. :p

Good run man, yea the new Stratus is the shiznit. V-6 same engine as the new eclipse. Personally, I haven't an R/T on the road yet. Also, I would like to see the new Dodge Intrepid R/T isn't that a V8 with a auto stick right? Dodge is coming out with some impressive shiznit!

Nino: Yeah, I'm on the BANEON list too :) . I've seen the R/T tested at 15.1 in the 1/4. And my neon runs a 15.8, and I know the stratus is a lot faster than my car.

no the intrepid r/t has a bigger 6 cylinder in it. it has the newer viper gts wheels on it, and i think you may be able to get it in a 5 speed (not sure on that thouth).

with mercedes ripping the shit out of chrysler and dodge and all, i doubt the neon srt is going to make it to production. too bad, that car would've rocked. :(

Yea, your name is Nate right? I had that 98 Sport Coupe at Sac Raceway last year. The one with the cool paint, body kit, and other ricey stuff. That car is no more, drivin around a 2000 neon now, altho I wouldn't mind driving a 440 :)

Yup, that's me. :) Yeah, the 440 is lots o' fun, but it's gettting to be a pretty expensive habit with these gas prices.

Hey sLEEPY!!! I got good news for you!! The SRT just got the green light from DCX for production!!!

You're probably thinking, yay thats great! but the baddest thing about it is that these things will be hand built by the same team that assembles VIPERS! No final word on actual specs but it most likely will see a turbo DOHC 2.4L 4cyl. With the Viper team having the final say in what will go into these bad boys, you know its gonna rock the sportcompact world ;)

Good, I'm do for another neon. Let see how far the production SRT ends up from the concept. Should be interesting....
