i just bought a 93 dakota, its 4 wheel drive, 318, and 75000 miles on it. when i bought it, in second gear it would run up to 3500 rpms and cause a very nasty vibration, and when i brought the truck up to 65, it would get another nasty vibration. now ive tried a few things to fix this, i did a tune up, cause the plug wires were original, and i know that if they get worn out, they can cause a vibration that seems like its coming from the tranny. the problem is, the old man i bought it off of had the tranny rebuilt. so when that didnt work, i tried series of different fluids in the tranny. nothing. then i started hearing a knock that sounded like the cv boot was going. turns out the knock was the exaust. all the hangers had come undone. so i fixed that. and then it started again today. so i jammed my broken zippo cause in between the exaust and the cross member. and most of the vibration went away in second, and it doesnt shake a 65 any more. but now it shakes at 50. can an exaust really do all that? or is it something else ive yet to try?
