Not worth it with the weaker 2.3 chassis. Your mounts, shocks, steering, and everything else will require overhaul and rebuilds. There's a lot more to it than just the engine and rear end; transmission, transfer case (it's not 4x4, but still, has 2L, 2H, and probably a neutral in there too), engine mounts, K-member, trans cross member, etc. etc. etc.
Yes, I've worked on them, and helped on a 351C swap (the bb 351 ford), but that was quite involved, and done on an older chassis. Still quite involved, and I think the final tab was still over 10k on that build, which we did ourselves, and tried to keep the budget reasonably low.
You can probably shoehorn a 302 in there cheap, but it'll be using the old parts, and junkyard parts, and you'll wind up spending as much fixing it as it would have taken to do it right if you don't have the parts cars or access to cheap parts (i.e. work at/own a junkyard).

thats what i thought, but because im new with building up cars for preformance, i wanted to ask someone who knew a thing or two about this. i do know about cars, because in my spare time, i rebuild cars (ive done an 88 iroc-z, 86 d-150 royal se, four 86 c-10s and a bunch of others)

I for one call bullshit. Why? You already posted about a '94 K2500 (not K25, GM had gone to 4 digits for all trucks by then) that you supposedly drifted and flipped. Now you have had an '88 iroc Z (something I am INTIMATELY familiar with ... mind posting the engine/trans combo here), '86 d150 (which engine?), and 86 c10's (four of them... odd then that you'd choose to build a junky 2.3 ford rwd), and "a bunch of others". Not really a long enough list to warrant the "bunch of others", but okay, how about some of those "others"? I could list, here, every vehicle I've worked on, driven, and/or owned my entire life, but it'd take several pages and probably a couple hours of thinking on my part, plus I'm bound to forget a couple dozen here or there, but still, I could rattle off a good hundred or so. So, why so hard to list more than 6?
New with building up cars and performance, I recall you posting something rather contrary to that before... odd. New to building cars, but you've rebuilt several? Better get some good, tall boots on, I think the shit is getting awful deep out here.

okay, the camaro(350 tpi, auto), the dodge(318 2bbl, auto), the 4 c-10s i rebuilt all of those before i had my drivers licence. i fixed those cars so i could re sell them to make money. i said a bunch of others, because i didnt want to post about a few caviliers, a couple of buicks, and my friends neon. the camaro, dodge, and 2 of the 4 c-10s where my cars. the rest of them were my fathers cars that he didnt have the time to finish fixing. the reason im building up the junky ford, is because there is no other car that i would want to sink money into,, and those trucks are like gold now with the ever rising gas prices. the whole "performance" thing, ive build up cars for 1/4 mile shit, but not for actual street racing. and im not new to building cars, i said im new to building them up for street racing. keep in mind, im only 17.
