Well it took me about 10 hours total. (90 minutes looking for a lost washer and 45 minutes refitting my downpipe 3 times) But it was well worth it. It was the smallest upgrade possible (and was free) but the difference is noticeable. The boost is right where it's supposed to be now, 20-21 down low that tapers to 15psi at 4k rpm and holds til redline. The smaller turbo before wouldn't hold the high rpm boost. New intercooler is still on it's way from the UK and should be here next week before dyno testing. Hoping for 250 crank hp and close to 300 pounds of torque.

Nope. It seems VW changed the turbo between the 2k and 2001 model years and didn't tell anyone. I had been planning a K04 upgrade but funds are tight and this was free from one of the shops I work closely with, I just had to install it myself. Gonna sort out the tranny this summer and next winter comes the big T3/T4 hybrid with 300+hp.

nice man nice
Stock the 1.8T had 170hp(??)
Thats crank hp right?
Have you done a rear-wheel dyno?
I'm thinking about a new car in the next year or so, and liked the Passat (Jetta was too small). If I can bump the hp up to 250 or 275, it should be just right. :)

Right now the 1.8t engine has 150 stock hp in the Jetta, Golf, NB, and Passat but that will be bumped up to 170 for 2002 models. Yes, those are crank hp numbers. Nope, have never done a REAR wheel dyno, but those results should be 0. Front wheel however, my last dyno before the upgrade was 225hp and 280torque.

What type of chip are you running?

Garrett (GIAC) beta chip pushing 1.3 bar (21+ psi) of boost. Planning to dyno it this Saturday at DSR so I have graphs for the show on Sunday.

Was wondering when you'd pop in and post some shit. We'll run soon enough. Sad part is I have to send my intercooler back to the UK. It was a one off and Forge is going to mass produce them for the US. I'm hoping I can just do stuff over the phone, but we'll see. Either way I am getting some cool free shit from them in exchange for testing. You haven't heard the BIG news about my car though. Won't be ready for the show, but we are going to do it next Friday.
Oh yeah, did you hear Dani has the T3/T4 in her MKIV VR6? Thing is fuggen crazy. ATP Baybee!!!
