View Full Version : What can i do to my SAAB 900 turbo???

I have a 89 SAAB 900 turbo and i was hoping that you guys would give me some advice about getting some more horse power from my stock car inexpensively right now.

The easiest thing would be to increase your boost. Get an adjustable boost valve (www.boostvalve.com - Ric Gillis Boost Valve). You can get lots of HP this way, but don't run the boost too high as to get detonation.

Does the car have an intercooler? If not, get one.
Next you can get an free-flowing exhaust system, the turbo provides all the back pressure you need, so the larger and more open the system, the better.

Yeah it does have a intercooler,it is the stock one. how much does that valve cost and what kind of hp would i be looking? i dont even know the boost it has now i should probly find that out.

Im new to this whole turbo thing i have only driving stangs in the past but they were just getting to expensive and i wanted something different.Im nt even sure how he boost gauge works i will have to read up on it

The valve is about $45. The boost guage (on my car at least) is just plugged into the vacuum tree to get the boost levels. (can also swap the guage out for one that measures vacuum and boost levels).

You probably would want to email Ric Gillis to find out about using the valve on your specific application.

and before you increase the boost MAKE SURE YOU GET A BOOST GAUGE :) dont want to blow your engine.. also plugs, wires, fuel filter, etc.. just retine shit to make sure its running at its peak.. and you can order cores for intercoolers and make a custom one.. just post up anything, im sure one of use can answer any question when it comes to turbo's
