I know this sounds like a stupid question, but what does a moderator do? I'm down to help out too.

Ryans, I can help out some. Already moderating a few.

Mods do the following things:
1) remove spam - this is 99% of your work on most sites (not all ...)
2) break up fights / keep it under control. Basically, when people get into a flame war, you step in, give out bans, warn members, etc. Moderating really.
3) Deal with BS users (i.e. the kid I caught claiming someone else's car as their own) and the trolls, etc.

That's the basic jobs of a moderator on a forum. Most of it, as I said, is very boring spammer deleting. Then you get your fights, and occasionally, you'll catch somebody breaking some other misc. forum rules and such. i.e. on NJFBOA there is a rule of no signature images unless there is a F-body in them (NJ F-Body Owners Assoc. so they said no non-fbody related sig images).

I remember when there were a bunch of really awesome mods on the boards here, too bad the hold you hand gang and "more members" were chosen over content, tech, and common sense.

SRO was kind of fun back in the day, before the fucktards were left in charge.
