Hey I started the thread "Accord worth keeping?" Just in case u didnt get to read that, My situation is that I've got an 89 accord lx, and Im looking for a car thats fast but still looks good and has a lot of potential. Obviously my accord is not going to do this. I've gotten millions of responses saying its not worth it to fix up that car, and I agree...Im lookin at 4th gen Integra gt-r's and ls's, Eclipse gsx's, or gst's, a 300zx, Or newer(94-00) accord/civic. Im open to any other suggestions though.

After speaking with my parents on the subject(yeayea im only 15 lol) I cant sell the damn accord cuz its a family car and u know how it goes been in the family for 12 years..good realiable car..etc, etc. u know how it goes... My mom basically said I should be happy with the car I have and pretty much destroyed any hopes I had on buying a car I want and fixin it up. I attempted to explain to her that some people take cars as more than just transportation, and are also a hobby, like me...She didnt seem to understand heh

So basically I got nothin to start with money-wise...Im getting a job right now hoping to make about 200-300 a month.. Im finding some good deals on autotrader for those cars anywhere from 3-6k or so.. By the way what do you think of looking for cars online. Is it a good idea? cuz theres hardly any cars im lookin for for sale around here at a decent price. I mean if I were to find a car that looked good Id have to go test drive it and get it checked out and everything: Id be careful..

I then spoke with my dad about it, and he said thats great that im interested in cars, and he was when he was a kid, and hed like to help me with it.. Well his interpretation of my idea is not what I was thinking. You know dad's ideas on fixin up a car, some rusty old pos and completley rebuilding EVERYTHING...Like an old mustang or something :( Well I guess my dad isnt what you call "hip" lol and its hard to explain to him my interest in the import scene..What I want to do is get a car thats still fast and still runs well but needs a little help u know..And modding it makin it look nice, but I think our ideas on makin it nice are different...Anyway I dont really know what Im trying to say. I suppose I just wanted to explain my dillemma and ask for any advice anyone has.. Car suggestions, buying methods, Anyone got mom or dad like mine? lol i dunno etc... Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated, Thanks a lot..

well...it sounds like if you really really want to do this and are dedicated to it then your dad would help which is cool. A good thing to check out is http://www.carfax.com it cost like $19 to get a full vehicle history report. I've used it before, and it's really helpfull. It will tell you any accidents that it has been in, actual miles, # of owners, and all that fun stuff. All you need is the vehicles identification number (VIN). hope that helps. :)

oh yeah...as far as the complete rebuild thing, that's a good way to really learn a lot about the car.

Hmm Ill check that carfax place out, thanks... Yeah I know its a good way to learn about almost everthing on the car but I dunno..thats not really what I had in mind.. I checked a couple of dealerships today and one had a 91 300zx twin turbo which looked nice as HELL too bad it was about $10,000 which is out of my range, and another had a 94 integra ls but that was also 10k soo..Ill just keep lookin..Im gonna head over to check out this older gen eclipse gsx that is supposedley fast as hell and for sale around 5k...Only thing is its already been modded a little bit(the gsx) and Id like to start on a clean slate but o well..peace
